Christians are viewed as being ingnorant, now more than ever. However, why are christians considered ignorant when they have been taught all the same information atheists have been told regarding evolution. You cannot give me much new information regarding evolution because I have had it shoved down my throat since the day I was born. I, unlike some others, know a great deal regarding chirstianity, creation and have read the Bible. However, the vast majority of atheists have neither read, nor truly understand what is written in the Bilbe. So wouldn't that tend to make atheists more ignorant that christians, because most christians know a great deal about evolution while atheists scarcely know anything about christianity, and most have never even read the bible?

Add. questions: How can there be cave carvings/paintings of dinosaurs which supposedly never even existed during the time of man? How could they find manmade objects in veins of coal supposedly millions of years old?

I have seen people on both sides of this debate try to take the intellectual high ground...and it never works. Neither side will ever convince the other without some remarkable proof, which neither has. Atheists claim the burden of proof is on the Christians, while Christians point out that even scientists still debate some of the most basic concepts of evolution, the origins of the universe, etc..

Don't let people who just want some validation and respect push your buttons...no matter which side they come from.

I am not a Christian and I believe in a Creator. I also see that natural selection / evolution does exist. I also see that it does not explain the emergence of man. No matter how much I try to reconcile it, nothing explains the emergence of such a complex brain capable of processing enormous amounts of data, learning by witnessing, capable of speech, cognizant thought and a huge information storage capability when there was very little to know back then.

In other words, man's brain does not seem to have evolved at all. It just appeared one day. Nothing explains that the brain the earliest man had is the same one we have today. So perfect was it from the start that it does not have to evolve any more even with all the additional information we have now as opposed to then.

Put that in your evolutionary pipe and smoke it!

It's not fair to label an entire group. I don't do that.

Exactly how have you had information about evolution shoved down your throat since day one? Did you parents force you to read scientific papers?

There is a constant stream of information being discovered and published, unlike the bible. So new evidence for evolution is being discovered every day. Keep up on the information to be truly educated.

As for your claims that atheists don't know anything about the bible, most of all are ex-christians. Most of us have reached our atheism due to the fact that we have studied the bible and have reached a different conclusion than you. Just like you claim to have reached about evolution. How hypocritical of you. The difference is that the bible is thousands of years old, and never changes. Science is getting new information every day. Therefore, constant study is needed to truly understand science.

Add. question: What paintings? Can you cite sources. Also, for those manmade object things, sources would be nice.

I would not go as far as saying atheists do not know the bible. There are many that have read the Bible. The problem lies in their understanding. They think they have found contradictions, but in reality, they do not understand what is placed in front of them. Many people in our society are biblically illiterate. Hardly anyone knows Hebrew or Greek, and a lot of the Bibles are translated in some ways that just make no sense, or are just wrong. To get the real meaning, one must learn everything possible about the bible, from the bible. not someone else. i am still biblically illiterate. i am working on it though. i'm trying to learn more and more about my religion each day.
instead of telling people they are wrong and stupid for their beliefs, people ought to put more time into learning about their OWN beliefs for themeselves. The main reason I come onto this site is because I learn more and more each day with what something stupid someone said, and I look into it and find out the truth for myself.

neither side is ignorant, per se, they just need to look out for themselves, instead of worrying with everyone on this site.

Its like this. People are just stuck sometimes. I know ignorant ..."Religionists" and Athiests. People are just doing the best they think they can with how they interpret the conditions they were subjected to. too much needless stress. All the drama over such ... well beliefs. Everybody wants to be a chief and no squa... people wanna be THE MAN. Hey if you are a christian then WE KNOW who da MAN is Jesus Christ! To GOD be all the glory. If someone is just trying to put themselves on a KNOWITALL pedalstool...hey the scripture says "what good is it that a man gains the whole world yet looses his soul..." People want the world. Gluttony, indulgence, and greed is the "IN THING" with the world these days You just gotta "let go and let GOD" Hope you dont get too stressed out over it. Hey stay on the front line battling Satan and do what you KNOW is right. But when the day is done...remember who is in control. GOD. Some people truely WANT to be their own god. Thats Satans offspring. All we can do is all we can do to try to show them the love of christ

Hello,

I am Christian and work as a geologist and just finished drilling through a bunch of Coal seams in Western Canada and I can assure you after all my years out here I never found a man made object in a coal seam unless we lost a bit or hammer down the hole. I have seen cave paintings in France and the animals look like mamals; certainly not dinosaurs.

Check this site out and point out the dinosaurs:

To respond to the answer by Bula'ia Aratyme:

What evolutionists see as evidence for a common ancestor could also be explained as evidence for a common designer and creator - it's a matter of interpretation.

What needs to be demonstrated is why one explanation fits the evidence better than the other and that has not been done.

Check out the ancient and pre-historic cave paintings, pottery and rock carvings here:

While some could be explained away as imaginary, others are exactly like known dinosaurs and it only takes one ancient depiction of a dinosaur to prove the point that early man knew about them and knew what they looked like.

I don't like anyone calling another group of people ignorant. There is no reason for it, just as there isn't a valid reason to put anyone's beliefs down.
We need to learn from one another and to practice tolerance with others. It is far more important to try and help others in the world who have less than we do than it is to prove any point.
Let's try evolving into caring humans instead of self-centered egotists.

Many atheists (like me) were Christian in the past, so they do know about the bible.

I also doubt you have studied much about evolution, unless you actively sought it out. The majority of pre-college education barely scratches the surface when it comes to evolution, largely due to the outcry by religious groups. And no, the strawman version of evolution pushed by creationists doesn't count.

As for your other questions, I'm willing to bet that if you looked for non-creationist sources, there are far simpler explanations.

Dude, you're crazy. I have the sneaking suspicion that this post is a joke. I would be willing to bet MONEY - cold hard CASH - that most atheists have a better grasp of the bible than Christians. The reason many atheists are atheists is that they were raised in a Christian household and thought for themselves, saw what a bunch of malarkey it all is, and developed their own stance toward religion. And the cave thing....QUE?!?!?
