Just pop it out and disconnect the power. (make sure your power is off first) This is going to leave a major space in your counter top. Are you replacing it with a gas range top or are you removing it for good? If you aren't going to put anything back in the hole you might consider a chopping block type piece of wood. It looks great and gives you a lot more counter space. With the space that was under the range top you can put in a catch all for scraps and grease from the chopping block. It is very efficient and looks great.
