I have been searching for a reception site in my area, Lewiston Maine, or surrounding area's (up to 25 miles or so) Mainly what I want is formal, but not to much so, I would like a hotel/inn environment, so guests can stay at the location. I would like to be able to seat 150 people at least. I need a site that can cater onsite and provide a bar service. I am looking to spend 20-30 a head.

Maybe someone else can have more luck searching then me? Please post links, and thank you very much!

I'm not familiar with your area, but I am a caterer and have some suggestions:

Pay a little less for your site and spend a little bit more on a caterer/waitstaff/bartending services. A small, charming space can be just as nice as a large one.

I would try some local B&B's who would welcome outside seating or tented seating.

For the price you are willing to spend per head this is very easily an option!

Your budget is way too low to have it at a Hotel/Inn. But, you can try to negotiate with them by having the reception on their off days. Saturday is their busy day for weddings and it will cost you an arm and a leg. Try to have it on a Friday, OR, have it for lunch. Also, how many sleeping rooms are you going to have at the Hotel/Inn? If you have more than 25 rooms then you can ask them to reduce the reception price because you got many sleeping rooms. If you still can't afford it then maybe you can rent a hall and bring in a caterer.

It is going to be very difficult to find a hotel or Inn that is semi-formal and only $20 to $30 a head. You might need to cut the guest list back to 100 and be willing to spend closer to $50+ a head.

webforwedding.com.

It will give you wedding venues in your area.

Also in Lewiston, check out all the hotels and inns that cater to weddings. Do a local search.

i don't know your area but have planned weddings for three daughters in the last three years...honestly i think your price per person is too low. try to think outside the box as far as reception site and spend your money on decorating to suit your vision...think city parks or golf courses(many have lovely old clubhouses) communtiy college in your area? small town nearby with a community center?

You are close enough to Portland and Augusta...check country clubs, restaurants (Portland's would be great- but both have a lot of conference/reception space)

BUT you may not find something at the price you are looking for- depending upon when you are getting married...also, try www.theknot.com it can help you find venues near your area

i would contact the chamber of commerce. they can mail you info on locations/hotels/to do while in town things etc

they might even be able to send you vendor specific items, bridal magazine for area, menus, coupons for hotels, etc
