Besides the jumping method, the doc told me to use the tip end of a towel to reach in and dry the ear.

next time use some ear plugs :) it keeps a lot of the water out
you can also try this...hit your ear against the water. it works a little better than just shaking it to one side.
don't vigorously clean your ear. do the nose pinch with the puffing of your cheeks thing and tilt it to one side. that's great too.
worst case scenario, put a cotton swab in your ear but DON'T clean it vigorously.
don't forget the ear plugs :)

I do this after a shower, a doctor told me to do this to clean the water out of my ears.
Pinch your nostrils together with your thumb and index finger and with your mouth closed exhale putting pressure in your nose and ears, then tilt your head to the side the ear with the water is on and the water should drain out.

You can put a blower dryer on low setting and hold it back from the ear and allow the air to dry the ear. This will help. Also but you did say not to say this but just the smallest amount of alcohol will be drying as well---don't use peroxide!

Tilt the ear with the water in it toward the ground. Pull your earlobe down and out. Shake your head towards the ground. Keep doing that until the water comes out. There's only one place it can go------it'll come out.

i put my head to one side and jump on leg that my head is tilted toward, like if i tilt my head with my right ear facing the floor i jump up and down on my right foot. this has always worked for me, i suppose you don't have to jump up and down on one foot, you can probably just jump up and down. my mom always told me to use that method, so i still jump on one foot.
