I'm a Christian, and I seriously don't see how it destroys your faith in God/Jesus or whatever. Whether man was created by evolution/God/a mixture of both, the New Testament message is the same, right? I was wondering if anybody else felt this way, and if so, why or why not?

Evolution doesn't say that we evolved from monkeys. It believes we are an offshoot.

A lot of people reject the idea of evolution because they think it takes away any role for God to play in the creation of life. Such is the case, however, only for people who require God's role to fit certain narrow preconceptions of what "intelligent design" must mean. Millions of people around the world have no trouble believing in God and accepting evolution at the same time. Evolution only contradicts a man-made God that operates under man-made constraints.

Well it doesn't destroy my faith because I don't believe in evolution. In the sense that man evolved from mud. And if you took a little bit of time to look closely at it, you wouldn't either. You can not pick and choose what scripture is God inspired and which isn't. Jesus never contradicted any of the scripture and referenced what is considered our O.T. today, many times while he taught. He believed in the creation. He was there. Evolution is intended to tear down and destroy our faith in God. Simple as that. If you are wavering in your belief in God's word in this area, you will in all areas. The creation is the foundation of our belief. Without it, Jesus has no meaning to us. All or nothing. And if you know your God, that is the way he is. No other Gods before me --sound familiar? Bottom line is; do you follow a lie, which is what you're calling Genesis, or the inerrant word of God? It makes ALL the difference in the world.

I don't think it should.
After all, the Bible explains that things do "adapt."
And Evolution never explains the spark of "life," merely the evolution of species once life begins.
If there is an issue or decrepency over the "age" of the earth, that could be explained simply by the notion that Adam was created as a man........he was old at the begining.
If God had the power to "create", he certainly had the power to create the earth as "old," with dead and decaying matter in the soil,etc. Creating things that would already be "old even though they were just created.

No, no, no, no, no. Your looking at this TOTALLY wrong. O.k. God created everything in 6 literal days and rested on the 7th. Thats what the Bible says right? Right. So how do you choose which part of the Bible you believe and which part of it you say thats not right? Do you believe in the flood? Do you think that Job really existed or is that a metafor? Genesis is the foundation of the Bible, you take that and morph it into something else then you might as well not pay attention to the rest of the Bible. You can't just say oh, well everyone else believes that this part of the Bible isn't really true so I'm going to believe this other "THEORY" thats very VERY holey. No, it doesn't work that way. The WHOLE Bible is true. Hope you understand.

Evolution should not threaten any ones beliefs because it really doesn't change anything, It's time mankind accepts evolution because it will be science that will prove us all wrong, we cannot continue to believe in something that simply is not true, mankind is so caught up in mythical religious stories today that he simply dose not know where to turn, so he tries to justify why he believes what he believes.

I like to think that "Let there be light" = "The Big Bang."
I am always amused by those who dispute that possibility since God is unfathomable - how would they know? Maybe one of God's days is a billion years long (give or take a few million).
If that was the case, then since God created man in a day, it would've taken a billion of our puny, little years for us to come to be as we are today.
The words of God and Jesus are words of faith, hope, compassion and love. I find that nearly all people who want a literal or exact interpretation of the Bible want to use its words to condemn, degrade, belittle or enslave. I'm fairly certain (unfathomable, remember) this was not his intent and these people are simply using God's words for their own agenda.
Side note: I consider using God words for you own agenda/cause/purpose as using the Lord's name in vain. In other words, for your own vanity.

It shouldn't. Religion is a dicey topic to talk about. Most religions are so old, that when they where written, they had a hard time contemplating why things are. Adam and Eve was a simple way to explain the creation of man. Try explaining evolution to someone in 35A.D.

Obviously many people feel threatened by the theory of evolution and by science in general. They should be living in the Middle Ages, not the 21st century.

I agree. Creation and evolution can coexist. God could have planned for everything to evolve. How did the first initial animals/microbes get here?

No, it seriously threatens their own logic and understanding of scientific method. Christians are quite secure in our faith and understanding of Creation. But since the ONLY alternative to the Bible is Evolution, that's all they've got to fight with.
