Better idea -Use the Staten Island Ferry
It will save you both time and money .
Bring a roll of quarters from home for the parking lot next to the Ferry
New Jersey Turnpike to exit 10 -metuchen /perth amboy
Take rt 440 over Outerbridge Crossing and onto Staten Island -pay $6.00 toll
north 440 a couple of miles
exit I-278 E following signs for the Verrazano Bridge
When the Bridge is clearly visible make sure thay your'e in the right lane
Use the Bay St.exit which is the last exit before the Bridge
North on Bay and follow it around to St.George SI and the Ferry dock & parking
The SI Ferry is free and puts you right at the tip of Manhattan where you can catch subways taking you to where you need to go
On the way back make sure that you use the 440 SOUTH exit off of I-278 W to get you back to Outerbridge Crossing

There is a Garage Right there as you exit the lincoln Tunnel at the Javitis Convention center. Seems like a good spot. Just above Times Square and everything.

Parking lots are available in the area at different rates on hourly basis. Avail the facility and obtain their phone number for easy location in case you forget the name and surroundings.
