Can someone explain what is age of consent in maryland?
im 17,female. and what does age of consent mean? what things can i do.

i THINK age of consent just means you are legally deemed responsible enough to give consent to have sex
meaning if your partner is over 18 (s)he cant be charged with statutory rape

age of consent means if your below a certain age then you cant' have sexual intercourse without parent consent. In my state the age of consent is 16, so if i would have been below 16 i couldn't have had sex until i had parent consent (but i didn't lose my virginity till i was 16, so this didn't matter) however, no matter your age, you are still under legal age so you still cannot have sex with someone over the age of 18 because it's called statuatory rape, even if you did consent. you should just talk to your parents about this, or at least your mom, and tell her your ready to take the next step with a guy and i'm sure she'll understand. Just make sure you are actually ready for this and don't do something you'll regret later, trust me, i regret losing my virginity when i was 16, especially with who i lost it too. Just keep that in mind.

You are legal to have all the sex you want in Maryland with anyone 16 or over. Age of consent means that it is criminal for an adult to have sexual relations with a minor below the age of consent. If a person is below the age of consent law, then they are not considered old enough to make sexual decisions and are considered children. Adults that violate this will be considered statutory rapists. In Maryland, as long as both parties are over 16, they can can have sexual relations as they so choose. 14 or 15 year olds can have sex with someone less than 4 years older than they are. So as a 17 year old, you can have any legal form of sexual relations in Maryland with anyone 14 or older.

Age of consent just means you have a right to make your own choices without getting someone in trouble who is older than you.
For instance, if a 21 year old guy had sex with you at age 17, and although it was consensual by both parties? It still would be considered raped on his part because your were not old enough to do it according to the state law under CYFD!!!
The legal age of consent in most states is 18!!!

Age of consent means that at this particular age (sorry don't know what the age is in Maryland) you are at the legal age to have consentual sex. Which just means that you can say "yes" I am going to have sex with whoever. If you are under the age of consent then even if you do consent to the sex it is illegal because legally you are still a minor and can't give consent. I hope this makes sense to you.

Nikki I haven't any idea of age of consent is where you live. I'm in Ontario Canada and the age was 14 but has just been raised to 16 recently. At this age you can consent to participating in acts of sex without the other person being charged with sexual assault. Myself I feel that 16 is even too young to be giving consent and feel that the age should be raised to 18 as there are a lot of sicko's out there who are older who prey on youth and con them into performing with them.

Move to Canada age of consent is 14 as long as the guy or girl is no more than 3 years older than you. Then you can have sex all you want.

Age of consent basically means two people 18+ can have sex, and two minors can have sex. However, no mix of the two can exist, as it would be against the law, which is where age of consent comes in....

17 is below the age of consent.. age of consent mean when u've reach the age of maturity (18 and above) u don't need the consent of ur parents.. lets say getting married or looking for a job... now if ur below that age.. anything u do must be allowed by ur parents. i hope this answers ur query
