I dont mean to discriminate or anything related to that but I dont understand why would an atheist get married in church? If you dont beleive in God why would you marry in his house? Why not get married in Court? I'm not telling you that you cant marry in church but it seems to oppose your point of view. why get married in a building build to worship God? Thank you!

Not all atheists get married in a church. Those who do might do so for various reasons. First, the atheist might have gotten married in a church because they were a believer at the time. Second, they might get married in a church because they're marrying someone who is a believer, and it's important to them, so they're doing out of respect for their loved one. Third, they might be in a situation where they have a family that's religious, and they haven't yet been able to get the courage to tell the family that they're atheist. There's different reasons why an atheist might get married in a church. It really depends on the person.

Good question. I can think of a few reasons why it might happen:
1) Perhaps one of them is an atheist, but the other person isn't. And in this case, the couple made the decision to still hold the ceremony in the second person's house of worship.
2) The couple might both be atheists but not yet "out" about their atheism. Maybe they live in a community or especially have relatives who would discriminate against them. Therefore, maybe they're having a religious wedding in order to please the extended family. (I've known some couples who have more than one ceremony for these reasons).
3) They like the aesthetics and/or practicality of holding the ceremony at a church. Some pastors are OK with rewording the ceremony and vows to keep things secular.
4) The church in question is one that is open to atheists, such as a Unitarian Universalist church. Maybe they're even members.

A.) I hope when I am married it is not in a church.
B.) The man has very little say in the actual wedding. If she wants to be married in a church, the couple is getting married in a church. Not all atheists marry other atheists.

It's just the way most people get married. It's a tradition. Besides, not everyone gets married in a church. Not even all Christians get married in a church.

We might well get married in church if we were marrying a Christian. I don't know any couples who got married in church where both of them were atheists.

I got married at a botanical garden. Some churches are just beautiful. I personally wouldn't get married at one though.
You could also ask, why do Christians register their marriages with the state which is secular?

My spouse & I were married at a registry office by a woman in a skirt. We saw no reason to go to a church and be married by a man in one!
(Not that there is anything wrong with men in skirts!)

Me? Get married?
She'd have to be mad, and why should I marry a lunatic?
But were it come about, why would I even consider getting married in church?
I suppose there might be some, the mother of the bride, perhaps, who adhere to the ritual rather than the belief.

As an atheist, I think that church is just building. Some of them have beautiful architecture and decoration, so I wouldn't be opposed to marrying in a church. It would probably please my religious family too.
