I am talking about a 6-7 member band that plays praise and worship songs. They will be playing five songs, three of which they will be learning just for this occasion.

My husband works as a sound engineer for a larger company and the different prices we've seen on 6-7 peice bands will run you between 1200-2000 for a 4 hour set.

We've also worked at churches. A lot of the time you can ask the worship team or maybe even a group of musical people involved (who know the songs you're looking for) would be willing to play for you. Then you would pay to rent the gear (around 200-400 depending) and give them some money for playing (I would go with 50-75 a person). That would bring your cost down.

Or if you've got friends that play and that you would want to involve, ask them for a price! (My hubby and I have done it from free-500 depending on what the couple requires)

For that large of a band, I would guess at least $1000. You might want to ask them to do the ceremony and the reception for the kind of money you would be paying you may be able to get a good deal having them do the whole thing.

Experienced bands, even praise and worship bands, should know a lot of songs both spiritual and secular that would be appropriate for a reception.

I could probably find out more info if I knew what area you were in.

Good luck!

depends on your area and their expertise....expect to pay more for the new songs alone....
medium sized town- three piece string quartet was $500 ...they played a couple of pieces before ceremony, during of course and they played while bride and groom exited their guests, we used music from the list they provided...all of her selections were on it.
