i mean, i hear the usual bologna about how "you're racist if you don't accomadate us" and the "we're human so....[we get what we want?]" but i've never heard anyone who is pro amnesty (or pro anything else that promotes illegal immigration) provide an argument that falls outside the realms of those types of arguments. i mean, yes, it would cost a lot of money to go and deport ALL of them, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't secure our border and continue to deport ones we do find. if bush hadn't exhausted all of clinton's surplus on this stupid iraq war we could do that and help mexico help itself and start providing jobs to it's OWN people. after all, if they have so much mexican pride, shouldn't they be willing to help their own country?
by the way, this isn't a racist question--i didn't say any race was better than any other race. and lastly, i am for immigration. i'm just not for ILLEGAL immigration.illegals need to learn that's how we feel about it, it's not because they're hispan

Relax nobody is calling you a racist! Look this is getting kind of tiresome, because a lot and I mean a lot of people are racist. They will resort to name calling so watch out. Anyway, I digress. If we made illegal immigrants legal then they would pay taxes and save money according to all the antis. So why not do this already and stop complaining! Everything would be solved and they would have a better life! Enough said!
You go Jennifer, finally someone with some sense! But since most people here don't have any they will probably give you thumbs down all the way. They will probably do that to me too because they don't want to hear the truth, they just want to hate! Don't worry while they are in a hospital bed with heart problems because of their hate, I will be enjoying life to it's fullest like I do now! :)

I don't have an argument for illegal immigration. I do have a problem with the current quota system. Let me give you an example. If you are a Mexican who is the son or daughter of a US citizen, you would have had to apply for a green card in 1991 to be eligible to become a permanent resident today. On the other hand, if you are not from Mexico, you could have applied for a green card in 2001 and became a permanent resident by now. If anyone could explain how that difference can be explained by anything but racial animus against Mexicans (and Indians and Filipinos, apparently), I am all ears.

When I travel to other countries it is expected that I obey the particular country's laws. I expect the same for foreigners who come to our country. What is Mexico doing to help keep their citizens in their own country? I say deport all illegals and fine the country that the illegals come from. If we allow 12 million illegals to stay are we going to allow 20 million to stay next year? See them home and build the Great Wall of China on our borders.

The biggest pro-illegal argument is that it benefits our economy by providing a cheap source of labor. If they weren't here, the price of labor would go up, we wouldn't be able to compete with countries with cheaper labor, and companies would start outsourcing their operations. This would have a number of consequences, including widening the trade deficit, losing jobs (including the associated higher-paying jobs) to other countries, and perhaps placing pressure on the value of the dollar relative to the currencies of our import partners.

This is not an argument FOR illegal immigration, just an explanation of why we permit it and why amnesty for qualified immigrants (who happen to have EWI or overstayed) makes sense.

The reason the government has largely 'looked the other way' over illegal immigration is the fact that our legal immigration system is practically nonfunctional and doesn't supply our businesses with enough of the right types of workers to maintain economic growth. It also doesn't promote family unity, and it doesn't deport undesireables.

As long as immigrants are needed here, employers will encourage them and they will come. No wall will stop them, it will just keep them from returning home, knowing that it is difficult to come back. To prove this to yourself, just consider that we have the lowest unemployment in recent memory and yet we have absorbed 12 to 20 million extra workers.

If we deport all illegals (which cannot be done without investing at least $2 trillion, hiring tens of thousands of additional agents and instituting random stop and checks of national IDs throughout the US), we are still faced with the problem of replacing 22 million illegal workers with legal ones.

So until comprehensive immigration reform is enacted to bring the system back under control, walls and enforcement are not going to have much effect. 100,000 illegal aliens will be deported each year and 1,500,000 will enter the country.

Argument for or against illegal immigration is as pointless as arguing for or against hunger. It is a simple fact.

Well thought out question and I think the fact that you mentioned Hispanic in the last sentence is going to get you some generalizations that are far from the topic of illegal aliens.

I think most want a good argument to support those that come here illegally. I mean, we have to take care of this countries poor first in my opinion; and not the rest of the world.

Problem is that illegals forget that this country was founded on

"LEGAL immigrants'.

I know of illegals who have been here for decades and have yet to even try to become citizen...despite the fact that it took my mother less than 3 years to become citizen (additional 2 to learn English).

Plus, despite the view to contrary, illegals are taking jobs away from americans . THATS FACT!.

It's because you ARE racist. If you weren't, you would have said illegal immigrants IN GENERAL. Instead you said HISPANICS. So there you go you are racist.
You don't even have anything to back yourself up. Hispanic illegals come here to WORK!
If you would do research, you would know that very few illegal hispanics use services like welfare.
It's U.S. CITIZENS that are using it when they are not supposed to. Stop blaming other people for YOUR problems!
Don't you have a KKK rally to go to?

I completly agree with you im sick of being called racist just because im a white girl protesting illegal immigration....if it were germans (which is my heritage) that were comeing here illegally id still be against it!!!And you said it,it would definantly cost alot of money to send them all back and to secure our borders properly but lets add up all the money we are spending on their health care, their well fair, and so on,when their are americans who need that well fair but because people are so afraid of being called racist it is given to the illegal immigrant.

There cannot and is not an intelligent argument FOR ILLEGAL immigration. The only argument is that for or against LEGAL immigration, There ARE people who don't believe ANYONE from other countries should be allowed , legally or otherwise, to live in the United States. An argument FOR ILLEGAL immigration would be about as intelligent as and argument FOR rape , or FOR child molestation, or FOR armed robbery, shall I continue? Illegal immigration is a crime, kind of implied in the name, don't you think? How can any American argue FOR any kind of ILLEGAL activity? They can't , not and be taken seriously.

The main problem I have with people when I try to advance this issue is that most people are just

Apathetic and think the issue will resolve itself.

They don't see the problems directly, or just choose to let people be and try not to bother anyone.

The live-and-let-live mentality will ruin us because the illegals are constantly undermining

*** all *****

aspects of the

Legal system (driver's licences, fraudulent records, drugs, prostitution, insurance, health care, schooling, sovereignty. Should I go on?)

Lots of people just don't like any law and won't support anything to do with it so they can keep on breaking it and be cool to their criminal friends.
