You have to give an answer for what you did in the flesh, but we all must bow to the Lord, and confess to God.(Romans 14:11, Philippians 2:10 & 11). Revelation 20:12 &13 teaches that the books shall be opened, and men shall be judged according to the works they did. Then the book of life is opened and if your name is not found in the book of life, then you are cast into the lake of fire. Matthew 12:37 states that you can be justified by your words or condemned, so if your accounting is accepted you can be forgiven.

During a trial, the burden of proof always lies with the prosecution. That's because a person in the U.S. is innocent until proven guilty. Let's see if you will be guilty when you face the Judge of the Universe. Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever looked with lust? Jesus said "You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart!" (Matthew 5:27-28) If you admitted to being guilty of these charges, what you need to realize is that God sees you as a liar, a thief, and an adulterer-at-heart. Do you see the predicament you're in? You know the Day of Judgment is coming, and your conscience agrees that you are guilty. What will you say on that Day? Would you have any words of defense? No amount of good works will help you on that day. That's like trying to bribe a good judge by slipping him a five dollar bill. The judge of the universe will not be bribed. The good news is that God has provided a way for your fine to be paid, and that is through Jesus Christ. The Bible expresses it like this: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) You broke God's Law... and Jesus paid your fine! The Bible commands you to Repent (that is to turn from your sins) and place your faith in Jesus alone to save you. Confess and forsake your sins once and for all. Do it today - you may not have tomorrow! Then read your Bible daily and obey what you read.

Perhaps the forgiveness God offers is forgiveness from the eternal consequences of sin not the earthly ones? If you have sex and then confess your sin, does God prevent you from becoming pregnant or getting a social disease? And perhaps part of the judgment that God says is coming for everyone will involve having to learn about the consequences of all of our actions (including our words) during that process. I know many Christians want to believe that there is some big book and if your name appears in it, you get to go to heaven...but what if he doesn't check the book until after you go through some "life review" first?

I don't believe you are going to hell, but you do create bad karma when you use negative words. It is important for all of us to take responsisbility for the hurtfull things we say and apologize whether we are forgiven or not.

Just because you are forgiven doesn't mean there are no consequences. Your insurance co might 'forgive' your accident, but that doesn't fix the damage, does it? That requires somebody to get in there and do some banging.
