Does faith & hope in God reduce faith & hope in humanity?

Absolutely, it makes people believe that this world's people are supposed to be the way they are because of prophesy and 'god' will make it all better, so why bother to try to make things better yourself. It's almost an 'every man for himself' mentality. The only thing they actually DO is try to convert people to their religion which in the end exacerbates the real problems. The real problems are religious conflict, religious delusions, and religious suppression of REAL verifiable knowledge.

What increases your faith & hope in humanity?

The spread of atheism, the spread of real knowledge over the internet. If we're smart we'll reject the Internet 2.0 since it will undoubtedly allow the internet to have a garden wall built around it to limit the spread of real knowledge.

My faith and hope in God makes me realize that people do and say the things that they are meant to do. My faith and hope in humanity is increased when I see a selfless act.

Faith and hope in God should reduce our faith and hope in humanity. Faithless people are without hope. Stalin, Hitler and many of the Godless people of history prove you can't put any hope in man. Just looking around at the current state of affairs reaffirms my faith and hope in God. And when I say faith and hope in God I mean it as confidence and certainty in God. Man certainly has messed this planet up running it himself. That obvious.

Faith and hope in God does not reduce my faith in humanity. I know that only through God does humanity have hope. He has control over everything, so I trust in Him . He will not allow us to destroy ourselves and earth completely. What increases my hope is meeting people that love God and has His love instilled within their heart. I also watch Christian television and they speak about how much help they send to other people around the world. What also gives me hope is the story about the Korean missionaries imprisoned in Iran, giving up their lives for what they believe.

It really shouldn't. But look how many people dog God and Faith. (It's quite common on here.) There are two types of people on this Earth; The ones who want to understand this world and it's simple truth to it, and the ones who want to party and b.s. all their lives.

What increases my hope in faith in humanity is that there are others out there who are looking for that same truth.

My faith and hope in humanity has been seriously taxed lately. Ours is a harsh world full of violence, corruption, greed, abuse, neglect, anger, hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness, and selfishness. If I let myself go into it, I can become overwhelmed and will cease to function. Just when I think I've seen or heard or experieced the worst of what this world has become, a miracle happens. In the form of a person who is truely unbelieveably wonderful, or a blooming flower that shouldn't be there, or a bit of good news regarding someone you love, or whatever. For me, God knows when I am at the end or my proverbial rope and need something to hang onto. Something more than the hem of his garment. Something I can actually see and feel and hear. He does that for me time and time again. I imagine he might be weary of listening to me cry and whine in my prayers. He labors long and hard with me and I appreciate him. Thank you Lord.

Yes faith in imaginary things does take away from progress. Any time you look at history progress happens when we over come religious ideas. Example lightning rods were evil at first cause god(the bible god) controlled lightning.

What increases my hope is the fact that we made it so far. Or when I see a person be self less. Like the former navy guy who jumped under running subway(in nyc) to save a strangers son.

What scars me is technology..... how fast its increasing...... I think it is no Joke about terrorists getting this stuff...... I think its just a matter of time. Maybe not today but in 40 years nukes will be even easier to make.

Nukes in general scare me...... the fact that a computer mistake in Russia could set of a global chain reaction.(this type of false positive mistake has happened many times already)

People of strong faith scare me.....even MORE! Look at Bin Laden..... his strength come from his religious convictions. He is prepared to die..........all cause some prophet told him his land is holy.
