Actually, we didn't believe hell into existence. We read about it's existence in the bible, which was written down a long long time ago, and is the word of God.
Hell was made as a place for evil to be kept. Currently, earth is a physical link between heaven and hell. But on Judgement Day (also in the bible), earth will be destroyed (along with a spiritual link called Abraham's Bosom), and heaven and hell, and thus good and evil, will be eternally separated, so that evil can never again infiltrate. You do not want to be in hell when that happens!

Um, you were doing good and almost answered the question yourself so here is a little help. It only exist to those who believe it exists. Whether you believe God or not does not matter. If you believe in hell there you are. Belief is very powerful. Belief can change the world!
Now, what do you believe?
It could be helpful.
Quit worrying about others and concentrate on yourself. You are the only one that matters on what one believes.

Hell is a state of mind...it's also the DMV...gods above that place is torture...anyway. If Hell is real, then it looks like I'll at least be hanging out with a majority of humanity then...since not all of the world is Christian...then that must mean that nearly oh say...75% of the world will be going (accounting for non-Chrisitans, sinners who are Christian, and all the miscarriaged, still-born and children who died before they were "saved" since I guess that they go to Hell too...since they are Atheist, they don't believe in anything until they're told to...so that means they go to Hell since they haven't been cleaned of Original Sin...right?) So...I'll be haning out with a vast majroity of my friends...ok cool. I've always been a pyro...

Hm, Are you so sure ? I think not ,You can't prove it doesn't exist. It isn't going to be for the just the believers.I have my faith and faith by definition is a fact.So my faith In God is a fact that he does truly exist so, That would mean that because he does .The Bible and Hell are very real.Try as you might you can't prove me wrong.
God bless and I pray that you and people like you really do see the light before it is too late for you. Just because you don't believe in something doesn't make it go away.

ok. First of all, us saying we believe in it, or we don't believe in it doesn't have a bearing on whether it exists or not. I assure you it does. So, you think that if you just say, "I choose not to believe in it," then, it doesn't exist for you? That is crazy. Hell exists for those WHO DON'T BELIEVE. NOT FOR THOSE WHO DO. You are backwards, dude. Most assuredly, there will be souls in Hell. But, there will also be souls in Heaven. You can still choose the latter. It's not too late.

Does the Bible indicate whether the dead experience pain?
in the bible at Ecclesiastes. chapter 9:verse 5 and10: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . (verse 10) All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol( the grave), the place to which you are going.” (If they are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.)
so do you think hell is what people say it is

All you guys/gals: Stop it. Just stop it.........
Where is your reasoning power? Where is your commonsense? There is no Hell, no Heaven.
Heaven is here, on earth if you can make it.
Hell is here, on earth because you have to pay your dues for all those bad things you did.
You ought to pay before you leave. That's right. You do not want to go to Hell, then don't do those bad things: Lying, cheating, stealing, killing, on and on.......
All the sufferings? It is because you did something wrong. You are now paying. That's your Hell. That degree of suffering depends on what you did and by how much and to whom.
All those nice life you are enjoying right now? You did something good, here on earth. You are now receiving. It is Heaven on Earth. Again the degree of enjoyment depends on the extent to which you did your good deeds.
Got it? It is that plain and simple as your nose on your face.
Stop bickering and get back to doing those good things you were doing ......

If hell is real and it isn't wouldn't that make God a monster to allow a place like that to exist? Where he knows conscience human souls are tortured endlessly forever?
I mean a few thousand years then they get out.
A 100 year sentence or the amount of time they spend doing bad?
Maybe after a million years they get a two year break?
See how stupid it sounds?

You confused 'those who believe in G-d" with 'those who believe in jezus'.
Totally different concepts and jeezus isn't a G-d.
Nor is there a hell. But to answer your question, yes the idea of hell is absurd. It also has no foundation in historical writings. It's a scare tactic ripped off from earlier religions.
