I have a plug on my generator that is labeled 120/240V, but the 240 volts isn't 3 phase.
An appliance requiring 120 volts could draw 54 amps, but an appliance drawing 240 volts could only draw 27 amps.

If the plug on the appliance will fit that receptacle it will probably work. There are several different kinds of plugs for 220/20V

What you really need to understand about the recptacle is the current rating. If it's rated to the current that you need, (and it's already rated for 240V) then yes, it will work fine.

It will work fine, but it may not be completely safe or completely legal. It would be better to consult a local licensed electrician.

Yes, but you will need to change the plug or find an adapter
