Sounds like you already have a theme goth/punk love. The black and red will go really well with a Japanese restaurant. Just use your colors to accent things and give the room a vibe. Your music selections will be pretty important so find a good dj (or whatever you go with). There is some really amazing goth anime that you can use for inspiration. Just have fun with it and maybe try asking this question in another category too where there are more goth/punk folks to give you ideas.

If you can afford it, try hiring a wedding planner or something. they might know where to go for your type of wedding, as in which places would sell the props and decorations
I don't really know anything about goth/punk, but for the color of black and red, you could paint small pumpkins red, and set them along the aisle, and around the edges of the garden. You could also have black candles in glass orb shaped container things that go up the edges of the step to where you say your vows, or if you have no steps you could just place the candles so that it starts behind the minister guy (or where he would be, if you guys aren't gonna have one) and continues both ways to form a half circle that ends behind you and your husband, or you and your wife.
I don't think you really need a theme, but if you're goign to put your favorites together, you have to have a theme kinda thing that makes it look like your style.

Okay, broaden your tastes a little. Maybe toss around some ideas that have to do with the Japanese restaurant, maybe have a Japan themed wedding. Or try for a gothic theme(your dress, his tux, etc.) Maybe have all your music at the wedding be what the both of you like. There's a million and 1 things you could go with.
Try listening to some other bands in your respective genres of music, that always helps me get ideas for different things

This is my suggestion, since you are having it in a garden, Japanese restaurant and your colors are black red and ivory, it would be perfect to use some Japanese influenced decorations, and throw some of you own style into it too.
You don't really need a theme, but your colors fit so perfectly. For example cherry blossoms, Japanese lanterns (there are some cool ones not the typical accordian style).
Check out these sites I found.
Just a thought, good luck!

I love the red, back and ivory. It could almost be gothic beautiful, if that makes any sense. I'm a designer by trade and have designed lots of invitation so I love type and color. I don't know if this would help you, it's an invite to a fashion show for Christian Lacroix

Maybe you can have the boldness on your invitation, red is used in lots of asian weddings and may go with your reception. Color is wonderful so you don't have to be the typical bride. Do what you love and it will fall into place.

You can go either way. Some people like to set a theme, some don't. Just make sure that if you do a theme, you don't let it overwhelm things.
Most people find colors quite enough theme, but it's also possible to choose a motif and use that as a theme, as opposed to choosing something very 'themey' like pirates or Disney Princess or what have you.
Just remember: the best weddings say something about the bride and groom. If you make the day about who you are as a couple, chances are you'll find a theme isn't needed.

shooting weddings no longer basically calls for technical know-how of the digicam and lighting fixtures, yet posing and technique. First, I propose fairly reading some professional sites for poses. Your concept of an indoor studio is great given which you already know studio lighting fixtures. outdoors 4 hundred ISO could be ok, in case you utilize studio lighting fixtures furniture, a hundred.friends in many circumstances assume in case you may take great photos of mountains and streams which you additionally can take great wedding ceremony photos, yet it incredibly is form of like asking a foot surgeon to take out your appendix. I had my wedding ceremony photos ruined by potential of a properly which potential buddy my husband employed..I ought to declare ex- buddy...over 30 years in the past and it nonetheless hurts. fortuitously we additionally went to a professional studio for a sitting that day! (could be a stable advice!)

I read an interview with Avril Lavinge the other day. She said that she would have loved to have a rocker wedding, but chose to go down the traditional path because she didnt want to look back at her wedding pics in 20-40 years time and think, oh my gawd what was I thinking.
But if its what you want, then i guess go for it
