I feel it it's obsolete and ridiculous. Opening up trade with them will MAKE them want Capitalism. Let's face it. We live better in Capitalism than any other system.

The blockade of Cuba is and was to placate the Miami Cubans, after we failed in the Bay of Pigs and from the fear that Cuba would become a strong hold in the advancement of communism in the Western Hemisphere. Being the cold war is no longer a threat, now the blockage is purely in place so that the Miami Cubans can be the ones in charge when they sail into the Havana harbor triumph ally declaring that the Island is under new management, mainly them, and communism is now a thing of the past. Now how the Cubans that stayed and suffered under Castro accept this new venture is yet to be known. Sorry, yes I do believe the government of Cuba are the mainstay of both human and drug smuggling in their part of the world. I do not believe that the government of Mexico is in the business with Cuba, but I do believe that many high ranking officials in the Mexican government are

The Cuban policy is obsolete and harmful.
Look at how much progress China has made towards capitalism, prosperity and freedom over the last 20 years or so with our open policy with them.
Imagine if we had spent the last 40 years engaged in commerce and tourism with Cuba. They'd be much better off, and the Cuban people would have far more exposure to Americans and our ideals.

It's a boycott, not a blockade, and it is obsolete and ridiculous. We should open up negotiations with Raoul Castro for a limited amount of trade, diplomatic relations, and immigration policy. We should not allow any Cuban who manages to swim, walk, boat, or fly to the USA to remain, unless he really needs asylum.
Their is drug smuggling from Cuba to the USA; I saw it on CSI: Miami!

We forgave Germany and Japan for WWII, we forgave Vietnam for their civil war, we forgave Panama, Nicaragua, etc. etc., but we will never forgive Castro for taking OUR casinos and sugar plantations.
I have never heard that Castro smuggled drugs, and I sort of doubt it, since he is getting very rich right now from all the Canadian and European tourists going to Cuba. Having gone from Spanish colony to American colony to Soviet colony, right now is the free-est Cuba has ever been.
The embargo has helped Castro alot. Without it, Americans would be down there investing and buying casinos and sugar plantations. As it is, he has an excuse to maintain one-party government to prevent the evil Yankees from taking over Cuba.

The blockade lasted less then a week, IIRC. The ongoing embargo is a minor matter to America, I assume it will finally end when Castro is no longer in power.

i agree with it. it's probably a pain in the neck for castro. one of these days, a cuban leader will give in and communism will fall in cuba for good.
even if they illegally smuggle goods, it won't produce the income that doing it legally would.
note that most cubans hate communism in their country.
