No. If you're going to meet him, bring a good friend incase it happens to be a bad idea, thats all- be careful of how trusting you are too, online/offline people are different.

Kind of.

Try http://www.rapleaf.com.

On the website it says:
"Rapleaf is the ultimate email search.
Search for an email address and we'll search the web to see what this person is up to and bring you back relevant information.
And Rapleaf also allows you to rate and view ratings on people.
Rapleaf is the only email-based reputation system. We encourage you to lookup people's Rapleaf reputation before transacting, hiring, or even interacting with them.
Building a positive reputation is necessary in making the world a better place. Prove your trustworthiness where ever you go and feel confident in the identities of the people you deal with through Rapleaf.
Look someone up by their email address to view their reputation related information, profile stats, and social networks."

Might help you find out if this guy is on social networking sites and if so, what kind of stuff he's getting up to on them!!!

If it doesn't have his email address listed, it'll ask you to call back on the website about an hour later, so it can produce any results. Its not foolproof I guess, but it will list if he has webpages using his email address on some of the major social networking sites i.e Myspace, Bebo, Hi5, etc and also if he's signed up to chatting websites.

Hope this helps! :o)

BY THE WAY, ITS FREE!

What do you mean met a guy "on line"...isthis through a service?

If not, how old are you....and meeting a guy on line is risky stuff, your safetly and life is worth more then that....from one girl to another...your better meeting someone who you can see face to face. Or better yet, let a friend hook you up with someone they KNOW!!!

It's hard in this day an age where it's the "norm" to met guys online..however, don't compermise with what's out there or by who says..."It's okay, everyone does it."!!

Go the old fashion way.

:)

I'm not sure, actually, I'm in the same boat as you. I too met someone on - line, he's from California, a marine, and he's been my "pen - pal" for a while, almost a year....we're planning on meeting, but nothing set up yet.... Not sure if it will be California or Hawaii

maybe edit how old you are???
i met my bf online, but im in high school. so we hung out at a really popular place, with LOTS of people around. if he is old enough to drive, dont let him. meet him somewhere. or take a friend if you want. but then that has its issues too. i think the best idea is to meet somewhere with a LOT of people. nothing can happen. and make sure you are never alone with him right now. its too risky. maybe after a while, when you can tell.

edit: i disagree with some people. there is nothing wrong with meeting people online. just dont be stupid about it.
and i should note, i knew the guy i met for about a year before i met him. so i kinda already knew all about him.

Most people online are genuine and are exactly who they say they are, but unfortunatley there are a small minority who are not. If you really want to meet him then make sure you're really careful and sensible about it, bring someone with you, and trust your instincts. Chances are he's exactly the guy you're hoping to meet, as I said the vast majority are. Good luck and stay safe!

I found a website that does background checks on people, but it'll cost a little--it's www.intelius.com. It'll tell you what info it provides and how much. Good luck.

I don't think so. You could try looking him up on Facebook book, but I'd be careful. He could sound like something on the net but you can't tell how he really is by his writing. he could be a stocker, or rapist. You never know.

yea there are websites for that and recommend using yahoo to look for these sites. Some will give you a free address and phone number but others charge for a full background check.

Make it a group thing, no matter what dont give out personal infor and DO NOT go alone no matter what he says. Just like people on the stree, they are complete strangers until we get to know them personally. have fun, be cautious and make him answer a lot of questions in moderation.
