I am looking for a small town, (around 3,500 ppl or less) within approx. 50-100 miles of Atlanta, Georgia. (in any direction) Cheap rent / nice 2-3 br. apartments / houses, low traffic, good schools, anything positive...job market DOES NOT MATTER...I work from home and my husband drives truck...just looking for a fresh start. Any information is helpful!

I live n Adairsville. We have about 2000 residents here. We are 10 miles south of Calhoun, the Carpet capital of Dalton is only 30 miles north. Lots of truck driving jobs around. Some new houses and very nice condos recently built. It is a beautiful place 60 miles north of Atlanta. And right on I-75 at exit 306. That is where Bobby Cox lives here, and they are building A Cabelas here in the next year. Bartow county schools are excellent. My daughter is in the 7th grade here. You should check it out. Hope it helps.

Small Towns In Georgia

I grew up in the metro Atlanta area, mostly in small towns. All of the answers that have been posted are actually true, but each little town has its own personality and are in different regions of the metro area. I know that you said that your husband is driving, but try to look at a map of the state, determine which major interstate you would like to be near (if you want to access family, etc.) and what areas you husband will mostly travel. Georgia is nice and has a bit of everything, from forests to beaches to mountains. Talk with you family about what you would specifically like and repost your question. Good luck. I hope you love the state. Also, a fresh start can be good for a family!

I live in Taylorsville Ga. Just outside of Cartersville, north on I-75. It is a nice little town, great schools and fair rent. We have a 3 bedroom cabin for $650 a month. easy acsess to I-75 and highway 278. population is about 2000 people. We really like it here and think that it is one of the best places to live.

Check out Helen, Ga.
It's kind of touristy, but in beautiful forested mountains, so really anywhere up that wasy is nice.
It's about 1 hr. and 15 minutes fro Atlanta.
Athens is a University town with definitely more than 3500 people, so I like it, but it's not exactly small any more.
There's also Dahlonega, Clarksville, and Ellijay.
I'd go northeast of ATL if I were you. It's hillier and prettier.

Peachtree City...in Fayette county. It has the least crime, best schools, and very clean. Plus it's on the southside of ATL...which doesn't have as much traffic. There are nice places on the north side too but the traffic is HORRIBLE and all the cities up there are very congested. It takes about 30 minutes to get to ATL from there. And if you want somthing even smaller you should check out Senoia. It'a really cute little historic town about 10 miles from Peachtree City. Very quiet. Hope that helped.

If you want to go north there is Kennesaw, Woodstock and Canton. They are all about 30-40 miles outside of Atlanta and very nice. I haved lived in all three cities and love Kennesaw. Woodstock is the smallest of the 3 but growing very fast.
To the west is Douglasville and Dallas, they are also smaller than Atlanta but growing. I really would not go south of Atlanta only because it seems to get a little "ghetto".
You might want to also look into Buford or Roswell. They are both north east of Atlanta. Roswell is a lil conjested so I would go with Buford, it is growing and has great schools. They are both about 40-50 miles outside of Atlanta.
I think the best for what you want would be Dallas or Woodstock they both have really nice homes and apartments for alot cheaper than Atlanta.

Inman, Georgia, meets your criteria and is to the southeast of Atlanta. It's a nice place.
