This is an area where modern science and the Bible agree. According to modern science, all humans today are the descendants of one woman. Please do the research.

Incest causes problems now becuz of thousands of years of mutation. It was not a problem in the beginning.

You need to research genetics and mutation. I cannot teach college courses over Yahoo Answers.

Ha ha ha.........

Atheists are answering that the Bible is a fairy tale and that science is so superior...........

Science claims that one ape gave birth to a mutated offspring- the first human woman who started the whole human race. Science claims that the whole human race is descended from one human woman.

Ha ha ha.

The idea that incest produces deformities just is not true, it takes countless generations of in-breeding and the deformities are not things like 3 heads and 8 thumbs, they are often things like still births and being prone to disease or having some other kind of trait that shortens a life. These are things that would not get passed along because people with those problems would likely not have a chance to reproduce.

Even though Adam and Eve sinned and became imperfect, Cain and his brothers and sisters were still so near to physical perfection that the children they produced did not suffer the same adverse effects as do children born of such unions today. Even some 2,000 years afterward, God’s faithful servant Abraham married his half-sister Sarah, and God did not disapprove. It was yet another 450 years or so before God saw fit to provide his nation of Israel a body of laws that forbade incest on penalty of death. (Lev. 18:8-17) By that time imperfection had apparently developed to such an extent that no longer was it safe for close relatives to marry.

Early on the gene pool would have been nearly pure. The people then were living to ages of 900+ years. The incest laws didn't come until later. Now people don't live much past 100.

One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Well i bet if you can trace your lineage back you would find that you are related to many people from all different nations and backgrounds. I would even be willing to bet that at some time in your family's past you had cousins that were married to each other.

The Bible should be placed on the same shelf as fairy tales and fantasy novels. I don't believe in the "big bang" or stuff like that, either. No one knows how this all got started, so I just don't worry about it.

First, people....please...it is "incest"...please use the spell check!

Anyway....Adam and Eve were genetically perfect...It would have taken a while for any variations to alter the gene pool.
