I want to get ubuntu. If you check out the site http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download you will see it says "What type of computer do you have?" Which should I choose? Here are my system specs that I copied from Control Panel > System:

Rating: 2.6 Windows Experience Index
Processor: AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2.21 GHz
Memory (RAM): 1023 MB
System type: 32-bit Operating System

I'll check back every ten mins for any good answers and if i find a good one i'll choose as best answer.

Hello; I also use AMD processors, and am familiar with them; although your processor states 64, that's internal architecture only, it's made for a 32 bit system, and believe me, your system is not a 64 bit system, so choose the 7.04 Ubunu that is x86! You might also want to try Kubuntu as well, download both, burn them to CD, and you can actually use them by booting off the CD, it's called Ubuntu Live, it allows you to bypass the OS, by booting off the CD... try both, and see which one you like better... I think Ubuntu comes with more applications... take the plunge, and enjoy!

7.04 version

64bit AMD and Intel computers

The regular 32bit will also work on your computer. It may even be more stable. there isnt much software that takes advantage of 64bit processing
