Well ya, but I don't think starving yourself is gunna work. Unless you KEEP starving yourself you will satrt to gain weight, then starve yourself to lose it, then gain it again. And thats not good for your body, but then again niether is starving yourself. What could POSSIBLY be so important that you need to lose that much wait in such little time? I'm not sure how much time it will take, I've never tried it. *cough* never plan to *cough**cough* hurts your body *cough* Sorry, I have a sore throat. ;P

There were some odd answers posted.

Carbonated drinks don't have any fat in them. However, they do have calories. A calorie is a calorie. Essentially a calorie is a unit of energy. If you ate a 100 calories or drank 100 calories you would gain the same amount of weight.

Unlike food, though, carbonated drinks don't have anything in them to make you full. You'd be wiser to spend your calories on things that will last you for awhile. I'd try vegetables, fish.

Essentially, medical science has come up with no better way to loose weight except for eating less and exercising more. Even the gastric bypass is essentially a fancy way to make people eat less by reducing the size of the stomach pouch.

If you take in fewer calories (regardless of what those calories are from) and increase your metabolic output- the weight will come off. You'll feel healthier while doing it if you eat a balanced meal but with smaller portions.

Good luck in your quest to loose weight.

Skip the carbonated drinks. Empty calories. Eat 150 calories in someting nutritious, such as some fruit, and have a diet soda.

But, again, if all you're having is 150 calories a day from soda, yeah, you'll drop weight fast. You might also end up in the hospital after you have passed out from lack of food and hit your head on the pavement, but hey, it's your life.

On a healthy diet, it would take about 10 weeks to lose 20 pounds.

Not eating tricks the body into thinking it is REALLY starving, so when you do eat something (or drink something) your body immediately turns those calories to FAT so it can save it for later. Your body requires a minimum of 800-1000 calories a day just to do "survival" things like breathing, heart beating, etc. I promote weight watchers (no it's not fast, but it's the safest & has longer term/lasting results), but if you want to cut calories & lose fast, eat 4 small meals of 250 calories each (1000 calories per day), stay away from sodas & drink LOTS of water. Eating a high fiber cereal (Kashi or Total) will help you feel full longer. Remember though...75% of all women in the US are size 14 or more...

Your body treats calories the same, the difference is it uses the liquid faster than the solids that must be broken down first. It takes 3500 calories to make or lose 1 pound. You can figure how long it takes you to lose weight by knowing how much you consume and how much you burn. Starving yourself is not good because your body thinks you are starving and reduces the number of calories it takes to keep you going, so you should control your calories and exercise for faster weight lose.

Work out. Its simple really, My closest friend did it and lost about 15 pounds the first month. The 150 c. drinks also work, but you have to have at least a small meal like a salad with it, I'm not saying don't starve yourself, its your decision, but the salads will actually keep you from starving and helping you lose weight, good luck =)

Despite your disclaimer....You're silly if you think you can lose 20lbs by starving and drinking soda...any weight you lose "fast" you will gain back just as fast....yoyo diet, constant weight concerns and diets, is that really what you want for the rest of your life?

However, if you are completely against rational advice, I will help you with your question - you should at least eat lowfat cottage cheese or yogurt every 2-3 hours, even if its only a 1/3 cup. This will trick your metabolism into thinking you're still eating and getting food, and will keep your metabolism burning, hence losing weight. (completely not eating will stall your metabolism out within a week or two...hence why it will become harder and harder to lose weight, and easier to gain it back. Your body thinks your starving, gets rid of muscle instead of fat, and the fat receptors in the body become larger in order to retain more...)

Yes, you will for sure lose weight. I really like Diet Mountain Dew (Code Red) it tastes great, fills you up, curbs hunger pains, and has no calories or carbs. Also, try snacking on rice cakes throughout the day for some substance. Make sure you drink TONS of water and don't fast too long. You should see results in a few weeks. Good luck and be careful!

Carbonated drinks will deplete the calcium in your bones and are full of crappy additives and sweeteners.

Get some weight loss drinks from the chemists, take a good quality multivitamin/mineral, drink lots of water and take extra exercise.

If you restrict yourself to 1000 calories per day you should lose about 5 pounds a week - more if you're taking plenty of exercise.

simple sugars, like soda, are bad. If the calories you get from them are not used, they turn into fat. If you're hell bent on losing weight eat heavy fibrous stuff. raw veggies, whole wheat bread. Things that take a long time to digest and stay in your system longer. If you want something sweet. Get artificial sweetener and put it in Iced tea, or drink diet drinks, also, if you are hungry you can slam a liter of water and kill the hunger craving for about an hour. Don't hurt yourself now.
