I am 18 years old, and have applied for a job for different stores. Everytime I applied to work for a certain store, I applied to be a cashier. At some stores I did apply more then once. When I applied at every store, I completed the application and filled out my correct information. I applied to work at 5 different stores, and 2 of them were supermarkets?

Every time I applied for a job, every store refused to interview me. I did qualify for every store job, that applied for.

weeks ago I applied to work for a Petsmart. I applied online, and spoke to the manager of the store. I told him, that I have experience with animals and I also told him, that I am willing to do the job I applied for. He told me to call him back the following week. The following week, I called him back and he refused to give me an interview for no reason.

Because of this bad experience, I hate stores. What is the point of treating a job applicant like this?

Are you sure these places were hiring / looking for applicants? Sometimes it's not in their budget or they don't need anyone at the moment. I have worked in retail stores and restaurants before...and when we REALLY needed someone, the managers would interview random applicants. But any other time that we weren't desperate, the applications would just pile up and we'd end up throwing them away. Also, managers like to hire people who are referred to them in some way.

Another thing..was your availability on these apps flexible? Maybe they just couldn't work with your schedule..?

I'm having a hard time with this outline. Have you ever worked prior to your filling out applications? If not did you write down that you had been a student? Did you dress appropriately, bring your own pen, and speak politely to everyone you encountered? Do you have a record with the police? Did you put down some ridiculous wage expectancy? Is your handwriting legible? If you can ans er "yes" to all these questions then you may be filling out the applications sloppily or the store doesn't need any more cashiers. Finally, please ask the manager who received your application to tell you why you didn't receive a call back. You may then understand why you are not employed. Keep trying and "Good luck!".

I'm seventeen and had trouble also finding a job. They might not want you if you don't have a lot of experience. It's also a turn off if you don't dress nice and aren't polite. When you do get an interview remember to make yourself sound good and to tell them about some accomplishments and experiences that separate you from others. Don't forget to handshake them in the beginning, they like it and its professional. Depending on where you wanna work tell them about why you are qualified to work there and why you want to be there, show them you have an interest and give them an impression of enthusiasm. Smile at them in a natural way. Show them a positive view of your personality. Prove to them that you are serious to work there and show your confidence.

maybe your being picky about where you want to work get cvs and give them to every shop you can eventualy your find a job you like or something to do until something better comes along. Im 18 too and i went to an interview at a pub and the guy said i have the job so i worked 1 day, he said he'd get back to me with my hours for next week he never called, so i called him he said im so busy but you still have the job i'll sort it out tommorrow don't call again. He never did, so my friend got drunk in there and shouted at him and he said he employed to many people, in my opinion he was just a jerk and didn't like me but didn't have the balls to admit it. people think because your young they can treat you this way its just not right!!!!!!!!!!

I know what it's like to do follow-ups and to get turned down and to keep getting refused for no reason for an interview. That has happened to me for years. Stuff like that makes one question their own self-worth, values, and everything else they have come to be in this life. It sucks and it's crazy you got treated like that and my heart bleeds for you. You should adopt a steely resolve to your approach and try not to be affected either way.

If i were you and were REAL bold in getting a job, i would ask HIS boss why he couldn't grant you an interview. Tell HIS boss everything that you told the manager and see what happens. Keep your head up and hang in there. Being unemployed is no fun at all. Don't kiss no ***, don't take no shorts, and don't succumb to the "bobblehead mentality" that 90% of all working individuals are known for!

Could it be how you present yourself? Are you dressed well? Do you speak proper English and not street talk? Do you come across with an attitude? Do you have a bad reputation at previous jobs? All thing that can affect you getting an interview.

i think of a few employers do no longer fairly have a silver tounge while it is composed of potential workers. I as quickly as went in to The physique keep because of the fact I observed a demonstration outdoors finding for area-time team & I asked for the administrative, she took one seem at me & pronounced that she wasn't hiring today. I informed her that she had a demonstration outdoors & she merely saved asserting she wasn't hiring. i'm questioning because of the fact I got here in there with a face crammed with make as much as a place it incredibly is all very organic & I regarded too made up for their employer. I merely pronounced pronounced thank you & walked away. I wasn't going to get confrontational over a stupid sign interior the window. I had desperate if she replaced into that 'effective' mutually as i replaced into enquiring a pair of activity what could or no longer it incredibly is desire to artwork for her so count extensive style your fortunate stars those propose employers did no longer surely hire you. in this present day & age employers shouldn't prejudge as human beings are available in all diverse shapes, sizes & colorations with thoroughly diverse skills & tutorial backgrounds. on the 2nd i'm making use of for the police & i'm having a tricky time because of the fact they should get my fathers tips, a father that abandoned me mutually as my mom replaced into pregnant, a father that no person has heard of or considered in two decades & somebody who isn't even on my beginning certificates & yet i desire tips or they gained't technique my application. it incredibly is unfair & it incredibly is precisely what it incredibly is, unfair. Employers sense that they could be choosey because of the fact there are not as many roles as there are human beings yet they are often slightly nicer of their techniques-set. merely be fortunate you probably did no longer get those jobs till now or you will have had a md from hell. ;)
