isnt it playing god to keep the person alive even though they should be dead?
isnt it playing god to put people on life support and giving heart transplants and other surgeries that keep a person alive when they should be dead.
explain your reasoning on why in one sense its ok and the other its not?
please dont say its because one way your killing them, because its not. its, one way your letting them die a painless death, the way they wish to leave the world.
(id like to throw out a thanks to Aintitthetruth for bringing up the point on my previous question)

People seem to miss that little gem. Keeping people alive artificially is playing God just as much as is killing them artificially (that is, not naturally).

I'm having a paper published on this topic in the International Journal of Applied Philosophy. It's title is "An Analysis of the Definition of a Person and it's Application to Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide". Basically, I tear apart our preconceived notions of what makes a person a person and argue for euthanasia, and assisted suicide from the standpoint of utility and rational decisions.
Hopefully, we will soon abandon the irrational belief that euthanasia is against god's plan and will come to realize that a good death is truly best than wasting away to an undignified end. Read the paper, it's going to be published this fall.

Well.. let's start from the viewpoint that life is sacred, and precious.
Your argument seems to infer that any type of attempt at preservation of life is intervening and the same as letting people die? There is a fallacy there...
If life is valuable and precious then the compassionate person is on a different side in preserving life and sustaining it than the person who will not intervene for any reason because that is "playing God."
God uses the surgeon, the medicines, the technonlogy to do what is most important and preecious in his eyes and that is the preservation and love of life.
The person who trusts God will make every effort to sustain and keep life - because who knows if God will further use that life (which often happens) or when God's time is ready for that person. You see, the end of life is not our call or our decision, but God's. That is kind of comforting to me.
Always choose life.

Euthanasia is a very difficult subject.
Its not simply about keeping a person alive when they should be dead. You have to take in to consideration their feelings, those of the relatives, how serious their condition is, etc.
By putting people on life support machines, there is obviously the mildest chance of them coming around or it is to make them more comfortable while awaiting a decision by relatives, health professionals, etc.
Because helping someone die is one of the most final things that can be done to a human, it is a very delicate subject and could be open to abuse.
Its not as black and white as you're making out. Unless you have been in the situation where possible euthanasia has come about, I don't think you can really comment

The reason why (I believe in euthanasia) is 'cause it's one thing to kill an animal with the stuff, but not a human (because for SOME reason Christians seem to be fine shooting the stuff into any beyond-saving animal with it...but not a human) Also...those who say that it's playing God...if God didn't want us to do it...then why did he give us the knowledge TO do it? Maybe it's God's will FOR that person to die by euthanasia? As for medicine, they just try and keep the game going...for at least a little bit...now, I think that us humans (and animals) should be alive as long as it's suited for us...if we want to die (or if we're in excruciating pain without a cure) then we should..same with animals. Hope I helped.

To be truthful docs do play the region of God. regardless of if maximum recommend properly while they use euthanasia on a affected person or drugs prolonging death is against the act of God. regardless of if all this rather relies upon on your morality and faith. So take a stance and stand by utilising it.

I agree that it is playing God to keep someone alive by life support if they would die without the machines. That is why I have a living will that states Do Not Resuscitate.

You do have some very good points. Ones that I myself have expressed form time to time. I personally believe that we're seeing so many people with Alzheimer's because we've developed the medicine to make the body going but not the mind.
But even so, please take care in what you're trying to say; other wise some day people may have the right to pull your plug all the the sake of their convenience.

It's not so much about "playing God" as it is about sanctity of life. And to be fair, not everyone who opposes euthanasia is in favor of life support.
