I agree with Gilliegrrl.

Some situations or illnesses are acceptable, and there are those that aren't. If it ok with the Army, then you CAN join, and get your medicine at no cost to you.

If you could provide more information, then you could a better answer that specificallly addresses your situation. If you don't want to give that information, I would suggest you call the Army 800 number and ask them directly. Someone on the other end of the call should be able to tell you yea or na.

Good luck and take care.

Some medical conditions disqualify you from service. If you are an insulin dependent diabetic you will not be able to join. Same if you have seizures that need medicine to keep under control. If you just have something minor like allergies, hay fever or the like, they will let you in but you will then have to get all of your RXs from the military. They really frown on military personnel taking medications that are prescription drugs and not prescribed and documented by one of their doctors.

yea but i dont think you can carry it around with you in basic unless its authorized. I know you can carry an asthma inhaler with you though. And they drill sergeants will give you access to your meds in the morning so you can take what you need for the day. That the way is worked when I went to basic.

Well, they are desperate for people- and they haven't been making quota- so your recruiter will pull some strings for you.

Way to go Army Strong...

The army docs will re-evaluate you, and if they decide you need it, not only will you be allowed to take it, they'll give it to you free.

Depends on the medication and what you're being treated for. Can you elaborate?
