I am originally from a fishing village off the south coast of Spain. I think me and 5 mates could have put up a better effort than Grenada. I mean America STILL talks about that "successful" invasion. My niece and her friends would have kicked yankee *ss. Does anybody agree the yanks thought that "war" was another attempt at making the American public feel better about the Vietnam defeat ?

Give me an educated answer please. My niece, while she would seriously kick yankee *ss, is not in the mood being 4 years old. But I will take her place. What annoys her the most is the hypocrisy in America she tells me. Don't kll the messenger (unlike you do in Iraq) she tells me ;)

I was in Cuba last year for my hilidays ( I think you call it "vacation") with my mates. Some Spanish, some Irish some Portuguese. We had a great time. We had a ball. Give me a break please. Do you think "El Escoria Numero Uno " was going to cause gobal issues? Would you wise up and stop voting for the party that promises world domination for a Christian majority ( I am Christian before you launch one ) and use your brains and vote for the person that means to do something.

To this day, I still have no clear idea as to why the Yanks invaded Grenada.

The only thing I can come up with is the idea that the Yanks want complete and total control of every nation south of their borders.

There's a programme on TV here in UK soon, about the activities of the CIA and how it does not give a damn about democracy and just goes about killing and murdering so that Uncle Sam will have the final word on any issue, no matter what.

We're going to get all of this from a former CIA boss.

How then does this fit in with the notion that a soldier on the front line is there to protect "freedom, liberty and democracy"? Just sounds so crap now! I think the soldier is as he always has been, plain cannon fodder.

According to the information I got from reliable sources, the Invasion of Grenada was because the American students attending the university over there had come under some type of threat from the Cuban backed government.

Before any of our forces landed in Grenada, the Cuban government was notified ahead of time by the US State Department telling them that they had better get their military and equipment out of that Island Nation and quickly otherwise their forces would be engaged in combat with US Forces.
This could escalate into a much broader conflict between the USA and Cuba. Fidel Castro, President for Life of Cuba ordered his military to depart Grenada, leaving behind a very ill equipped army that was being supported by Cuba at the time. They were no match for fighting a superpower, and although they did do their very best in defending their own Island Nation against this invasion, they lost, which is to be expected considering their resources available to them at that time.

If Cuba had kept their military intact on the Island of Grenada, and their forces did engage the US Forces, they too would have lost, and from there, we probably would have invaded Cuba as well. Cuba may talk a big fight, but when the sh*t hit the fan, they too would not be any military match against the USA, even when the former Soviet Union was backing Cuba, the missile crisis could have escalated into a global conflict between the USA and the Soviet Union, but thankfully, leaders on both sides decided not to persue this matter and the Soviets decided to pull their forces, missiles and their submarines out of Cuba.

Incidently, the next time that our leaders decide to invade another country to protect US Citizens, we might just give you and your cousins the opportunity to and I quote: "My niece and her friends would have kicked yankee *ss" Well, if this is the case, how come they aren't fighting the current terrorist faction over in their country right now, that has just about brought the Spanish government to their knees, you know who I am talking about, don't you? Go fight them, they are more your speed, but even those factions would kick your butts in a matter of minutes and then go have lunch.

Talk is cheap, ACTION speaks louder than words, my friend!

And, in reply to the answer that snodders B gave to your question, well you seem to forget something, don't you!

It was American Rebels, a much smaller loosly organized military force that kicked the British out of the 13 Colonies wasn't it? A rag-tag American rebel unit convinced the British Superpower to get the h*ll out of our country and you did. "People that live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones"!

History provides the facts here, my good friend, read them and weep!

I am thinking of incorporating a 501 C 3 non profit foundation dedicated to feeding the poor, assisting with utilities, helping with rent and mortgage payments, etc. Right here where I live the need out weighs the amounts of monies on hand. I think that with God's help I can raise the funds needed. But to keep it legal and avoid problems with the IRS, I feel that my first need is to incorporate a non-profit corporation. Why don't you check with lawyers where you live to see if you can do the same thing there then share your results with me. CrG

Grenada was part of the UK commonwealth. USA had no sanction from us here in the UK to attack it. It was the start of a Repcon process which is ongoing today. Afterall they invaded Iraq etc despite the UN warning against it, then the UK got involved, so no, it wasn't worhtwhile, just a worrying development.

Well it was a success, but the yanks have only won wars where they are either such a major power, ie Grenada, or helped by other powers, ie the UK. They have never won anything by themselves except against a country with fewer people in the population than they have in the invading army.

Our landing forces took on Cuban forces head on and killed them. Castro hasn't used his army for any "lend lease" operations since. So, if we stopped El Escoria Numero Uno from fomenting trouble somewhere else on the planet, it was worth it.
