Has anyone on here ever had dealings with the FBI?

I already know that someone has tried to hack into my email, I suspect that they are trying to get personal information about me, such as an address, etc. Should I contact the FBI? My IP provider says that they are the only ones (and other top officials) that can access the info to locate the remote computer that tried to hack into my email. How advisable is it to do this?

You can file a report, but unless your account was breached, they may not do anything.
