I like real better, and you get the lovely scent from them.

Silks have come a long way in the last several years. Some silks are quite difficult to differentiate from real flowers - you have to touch them to be sure. It all comes down to how much you want to budget for flowers. In some cases, high quality silks can be more costly than real flowers. Good luck flower shopping!

Congrats on your soon to be big day! Real flowers are alot nicer than silk, but you can get some nice silk ones.If you can't make your mind up then why not have a combination of both. You could have a real bouquet & buttonholes then have silk on the tables at the reception. Real flowers do add to the ambience of the day - the flowers I had at my wedding looked & smelt beautiful.

Nobody thinks silk and real are the same - it just isn't possible unless the entire wedding party and all the guests are stone cold drunk. Carrying a clutch of fake flowers - however pretty - just doesn't cut it on such a special occasion.
If what you want to do is preserve the fresh bouquet, have a professional do it or use the drying crystals yourself from the craft store.

Real flowers are nice, silk flowers can be nice too. Just make sure you go to a store that specialize in silk flowers. Some stores have cheap silk flowers others have really nice flowers. Good Luck.

I like real flowers a lot better. When you walk down the aisle you want to feel as confident as you can be because it is your special day. I suggest you to get real flowers. So what if you leave the flowers behind? Even if you won't be leaving straight after the wedding what are you going to do with the flowers? They will die sooner or later anyway. It is not about what are you going to do AFTER the wedding, it is about the actual wedding.

i think real flowers are beautiful...but so are some of the silk flowers. and i firmly believe no one is going to be staring at your flowers talking about how fake they are when you're walking down the aisle....which is the only time you really use them. i don't think you can tell the difference in pictures. i am using silk for my wedding because i don't have to pay high delivery charges and worrying about them being delivered hours before the ceremony and trying to keep them fresh and all that. but all in all, for me, the flowers weren't that serious, i'm more excited about my dress and my hair and my ring...not my flowers...so really its about what type of things are most important to you.

Real, and yes, unless they are really expensive silk flowers, you can tell the difference. My biggest reason for using real is you can throw them away when done - they're biodegradable. If you get fake flowers, what do you do them after the wedding?
Also, if you aren't near a wholesale flower mart, there are tons of online wholesale flower companies that will ship you flowers in a hurry. Real flowers aren't that expensive if you get ones that are in season.

I used silk from silkspecialties.com and I was very happy with my decision. Everyone thought they were real! Plus I can keep them forever. I have some of the bridesmaids bouquets on my mantel and they are beautiful. The price was great too. $630 for mine, 8 bridesmaids, flower girl basket, 16 boutonnieres, and 8 corsages. It would have been a ton more if I had real roses.
Here is the link to my flickr group if you want to look:

Good luck and congratulations!

Real flowers are so much nicer and the colours and scents are fab. If you wanted to keep the flowers afterwards talk to the florist who makes up the bouquet to see if can store them, then arrange a company specialising in pressing etc to courier them to their premises. I went away for just over 2 weeks after I got married and my mum took my flowers to florist etc etc, 3 weeks after I got home I was presented with a small version of my bouquet in a frame, it still has its colour (as long as kept out of direct sunlight) but looks fab - silk flowers tend to look cheap and they are BIG dust collectors!
