Can anyone please explain why I only get cramp in one toe? I dont get this often but when i do its really painful and my toe stick either right up or points downwards, it goes into a complete spasm. I can go for several months without getting cramp then i may get one or two within a couple of days....

What causes this and is there anything i can do to help either stop getting them or ease the pain if i do get them.

My most recent one started suddenly and I fell to the floor in such pain. I managed to get it under control but it took some 15 minutes before it completely went. I then had pains in my left for about 15 minutes after...

Just been thinking. One very funny answer.. but in response.. I do have more than one toe!

But - I was just wondering I wore a new pair of shoes and it happened on the evening. so it could be the shoes. Even though they were flat and not pointed. Maybe they were a little tight because they were new.

My husband says im weird because people dont get cramp just in one toe. However one of my children suffer the same problem - could it be her shoes also??

Are you wearing pointy and/or high heeled shoes? That might be what's giving you gip.

Hi,
When I had problems with my foot last year, whenever I went swimming, I automatically crossed my toes to stop my foot from hurting. However, this created the problem of having sharp shooting pains straight down the sole of my foot. I soon realised that this was because my foot was being "stalled" in an unnatural position for a period of time.
Your question reminded me of this and the idea came to me that, if you are wearing any uncomfortable footwear, which is particularly uncomfortable between the centre of your foot and your "middle toe" , then this may be the cause of your problem. Try wearing training shoes when possible instead of working shoes and so on. Hope this is the solution that you've been looking for.
Bye 4 Now,
Joe.

That sounds nasty for you,i have never had cramp but from what i have seen it looks blooming painful,if your shoes are tight, that might cause it,like if maybe your toe nail needs cutting.Any sort of pressure on your toe like a bed sheet too tightly tucked at the foot of your bed.

I get it in my big toe but only when Ive been wearing flip flops for a while. Try different heeled shoes and massage regularly.

Potassium deficiency!!! I used to get cramps in lower legs and feet. I got "into" vitamins/minerals and got onto potassium and they went away!!!! I can't explain the specific toe--but I'd sure explore taking potassium suppliments. It does no harm and is worth seeing it it helps!!!!

Possibly the only reason is that you only have one toe, or so it seems from your question
