or the pack n play.

I babysit her and today she thought it would be a good idea to climb out of the pack and play that she sleeps in.
I have heard of the nets that cover the cribs and pack n plays but dont know if they work or where to get them from.
AND, should I be responsible for the purchase of it or should it be the parents responsibility since its their pack n play?
She is VERY behind for her age and in NO way ready for a bed...toddler or otherwise. Here in lies my dilema.

The mother told me that she may climb out but has done nothing to help in the prevention of the situation.
I hate to say it but the parents are pretty lazy.
I told mom today what happened and she just laughed and said that she was waiting for me to tell her that.

She sleeps for a total of 4 hrs a day...2 in the AM and 2 in the PM. I have other children to tend to and can not stay in the room and watch her slepp so that she doesnt climb out.

when i say she is behind for her age, I mean that she doesnt talk..not one word!! and just started walking about 2 months ago. She also really doesnt understand when told no...even with a stern voice. she just looks at you like a deer in the head lights.

You have three choices...ask the mom to purchase it, keep an eagle eye on the kid, or stop babysitting this kid.

As for the not talking that doesn't mean she's behind. Plenty of toddlers will just be quiet and listen and out of no where start talking in full sentances.
Sounds like she's definately beyond the need of the play yard. Her mom needs to provide some other method for her to sleep while she is with you and you are responsible that she is in a childproof area so that she will not be injured while in your care. There are several mats designed for toddler naps on the market that her mom can pick up. That or what worked for my son was a folded up quilt on the floor for nap time.

The crib netting is available at Babies R Us and it's around $80.. That should help but, maybe it's time for a floor cot.. They sell those at walmart for about $30 and it's good for little one's so they don't fall or roll off beds.. There's also a law in most states about children sleeping on the floor, so this is just a wee bit off the floor... There's also inflatable mats w/ sleeping bags attached that are around $20. You could just have her sleep on one of those and if she wakes up she won't hurt herself... There's not much you can do for her "development" except try to read to her and the other children as much as possible and play games that teach letters and numbers etc... Good luck

If you know that she can climb out of the pack and play quit putting her in it. Do not put her in it until she is sleep and then keep and eye on her that way when she does wake up you can take her out and not just leave her there to entertain her self!

lower the mattress in the crib as far as it will go. nothing you can do about the pack and play. those nets are for out side use to keep bugs out

just keep putting her back in and tell her no no you could get hurt. pop her diaper if need be.

My pediatrician always told us that children know what they need more than we do. They'll eat when their body tells them they need to eat, and the same goes for sleep.

Are you forcing a nap time on her when perhaps she isn't ready for one?
