I tried to give my friend a letter about a tragic event that will take place in the future but he just tore it up and started yelling about the space-time-continuem, or something.

I'm sitting in my 1985 DeLorean right now about to help my friend perform a "weather experiment" I might be able to go back early and warn him, do you think 10 minutes ought to be enough time?

Like, totally. But you should always allow for unforeseen events. I'd give it 15 minutes just to be safe.
