I just posted a question in which I asked people to help me give up on finding happiness in romance. Someone then suggested that I'm attracted to the "wrong type" of guy. What's that supposed to mean?

There are many "wrong types" of guys out there. The problem is 90% of guys are going to fit into one of those types. If a guy constantly puts you down or makes you feel bad about yourself, then hes the wrong type of guy. If a guy physically abuses you, then it should be obvious that hes the wrong type of guy and you should get the hell out of that relationship. If a guy is more worried about impressing his friends and other people around him than having a good relationship with you, then hes the wrong type of guy. If you're always fighting with the guy that hes the wrong type of guy (it could also be you too. Either way you're not right for each other). If a guy plays relationship games and lies just to lie or treats you bad just to make you apologize so that he feels in control, hes the wrong type of guy. If he constantly disrespects you when you ask him not to, hes the wrong type of guy.
Having said all that...some of those things also have to do with your behavior. Either way, if those situations appear in your relationship, its probably time that you get out of it.

Usually it's referring to someone that isn't wanting the same things as you. Commonly when women are told that they like the wrong type of guys it coming from me that consider themselves nice guys - and are telling you that you go for the bad boys - Troublemakers, players, etc.

I'd say it's either the type that someone else doesn't consider right for you or the type you yourself are not ready for. It could also be that they truly are wrong for you.. but who am I to judge that.

i think a "wrong type" of guy is a guy who don't know him self and just do anything he want to do.. he doesn't know what he had to do to woman..
