Has there ever been a design that only used magnets as a power source to power a car?
I developed this design(only on paper so far) to power a car using nothing but magnets as a power source. Has this been done yet? If so was it successful, if not, why? The only major problem I can think of so far with this design is metal objects flying across the road being attracted to the car.

you cant power anything only with magnets. you need a real power source, magnets are not.

There are two different ways of generating movement from magnets that I have seen used in transportation.

One is a simple generator that makes electricity to power an electric car. The heart of a generator is a magnet.

The next up is used on some trains. It relys on a magnetic track and a train resting on magnets with the similiar poles facing each other. The train track magnets can be reversed. By reversing the magnets in the track the train can be attracted to these magnets. As the train passed over these magnets they are reversed back to being the same poles as the magnets under the train. This keeps the train floating in the magnetic field. I saw something about this on "Modern Marvels" on the History Channel one night.

distinctive designs have been tried to produce consistent action employing purely everlasting magnets. so far, none has been effectual. Electro-magnets could properly be controlled to produce action - rotary or linear - yet they, for sure, want an exterior capability grant (electric powered modern) which will properly be grew to become on and rancid or reversed with a view to maintain the action. everlasting magnetic action is an attractive thought - and, opposite to what you are going to be able to learn, it does no longer violate any actual regulations - it may purely convert the magnetic rigidity to mechanical action.

A magnet alone is not a power source.
