It's a comprehensive loss.....accident with OTHER than a vehicle. If you don't carry this coverage either don't bother. You can't 'get' your insurance to cover a loss you're not paying them to cover.

collision doesn't cover hitting animals. comprehensive does. some people carry liability and comprehensive but not collision... i have a feeling this is not the case with you. So, to answer your question, unless you pay for that specific coverage, there is no way to have your car fixed by the insurance company. if you wanted coverage for things like this, you should have considered that when you signed up for you policy.

Some insurance covers collisions with animals as acts of god under comprehensive coverage.
Really. My brother in law has hit four deer in 20 years and this coverage always pays.

You collided with something, didn't have collision insurance, and now hope that the insurance company will pay? I can just hear the claims adjuster rubbing his hands together and laughing.

If you don't have comprehensive insurance, the insurance wont cover you. The only way you could claim is if you knew who owned the deer and could prove that they were negligent.

If you only carried minimum liability insurance, that means that the OTHER car, or property owner is covered, not you. That means that you are responsible for the damages to your vehicle, no matter WHO or what was at fault.

Did you get the insurance that the deer had? That is about your only legal option.

No. You aren't paying for comprehensive coverage, why do you feel you are entitled to it?
