I booked a cruise to Alaska through Yahoo. I wasnt sure of my wifes last name on her passport, whether it was my last name or hyphenated with her maiden name. 3 days after booking the cruise, I checked her passport and told my agent to change her last name to the hyphenated version. THEY CHARGED ME $125. That feels ridiculously high. Anything I can do??

You are being robbed. That is ridiculous. I had to change my husbands name from his short version to long. I was not charged anything for this. Agent I got off the Internet and she has done numerous things for me at no charge. Call them up and tell them you are going to turn them in to Better Business B if they don't take that charge off. They are crooks.
Have you heard of ....cruisecritic.com...... go to that website, its a forum that is so valuable to people that cruise. Sign in, its free and get this out to the people on this forum. They know more then the travel agents and you will get loads of correct advice as to what you can do about this.
Good luck and don't let them get away with this!

Well, it may be high but that is their policy. You should READ the terms and conditions before you make a reservation. This information is very well explained not only on the website but on the confirmation you receive by email right after you reserve.

All cruise lines charge a fee for ANY changes within a certain time period prior to cruising.

i agree with going to a manager of the travel agency. the other thing i could think of is talking to a consumer ombudsman for a magazine like conde naste magazine. (sometimes they have some clout talking through difficult situations). and the last thing and i don't think it helps right now but maybe in the future it will, EACH time I think of using an agency the first thing i ask is do you CHARGE to change the documents/ Are there any hidden fees to the process.
at least this gives you some idea of how the travel agency runs their BUSINESS. (for of course it is a BUSINESS) good luck

The Skilled Traveler, http://www.theskilledtraveler.com ,advises you to speak to the manager of the travel agency. If he/she is the manager, contact their parent company to file the complaint.
