I'm not sure if I would put a question on this forum that I needed a serious personal spiritual based answer about.

Why is it that in most of the other forums people's questions are taken seriously, but here you get trashed and bashed when you ask serious personal spiritual based questions?

I dunno' why, maybe just feeling depressed... I saw a question a girl was asking about being the gf of the pastors son and not being attracted to him, but being attracted to girls. I had to wonder, was this a troll? was this a serious question? I am so effing confused!!! It's sad to me that people have to bash eachother. I mean even athiests and pagans believe in harming no one, or so I thought.

Yes, I'd consider it. Of course, there are always trolls who'll be glad to cut you to ribbons for daring to ask a question, but then again, there are some very kind and knowledgeable people here whose opinions I'd be interested in knowing. Another advantage to posting here is that there is a wide array of people, not just representatives of one religion, so your answers may come from a perspective that's new and different to you. However, I'd also look into many other sources as well, in addition to R&S.

LOL. Yeah, you’d think not accepting the premise of a question would keep people from answering. No such luck, eh?

Whether it’s Christians denouncing Evolution or Socialists denouncing Religion, there’s just no getting around that group of anal retentives, who simply cannot ignore a question about a belief they don’t like.

Now it’s pretty easy to see the apparent conflict between Evolution and the Creation story, so we know what’s setting off that anal enclave of Judeo-Christendom.

But what is setting off the anal Socialists?

Same thing. It’s the words of their spiritual father.

When Karl Marx saw evil wealthy men oppressing the poor, he blamed the wealth building system (Capitalism) instead of the evil men.

When Karl saw the stabilizing effect religion had on people and society, he concluded religion was the drug that kept people from acting against this oppression.

“Oh” thought Karl, in an insight possible only after many years of college,” If we could just eliminate any effective wealth building system, and any belief system that gives people hope & morality, then this world would be paradise.”

So now Socialists believe Capitalism and Religion ARE the primary causes of human suffering. Anytime someone expresses a Religious thought, anal Socialists feel it is their moral duty to trash and bash.

Its all very serious to someone...

A question from a lesbian buddhist that is answered by an irish catholic could be very enlightening to someone.

I am more drawn to people who can submit their spirituality to the litmus test of a public forum than I am to those who claim some secret superior knowledge that the rest of us are not privy to.

But yes, the attacks between Christians and Atheists are getting a little redundant.
Too many people fail to understand that a really good answer will help everyone and please their higher power in the process. But an antagonistic or sarcastic answer just adds more resentment to the world.
We are playing with Karma on this site and should always remember that.

Yes. There is a fair representation of humanity here. Other forums such as those based on science, medicine, history or art are less subject to opinions than R&S which tends to a philosophy with the subjects attracting those who are passionate about their beliefs (or lack thereof), But there are people who want serious answers and there are those who want to help others find the truth. The trashing and bashing is the result of the pearls before swine syndrome........................

Well, look at, say, the Cats forum. They may have their minor differences, but they are united in their devotion to cats. Here, we've got Atheists, Protestants, Catholics, Buddhists, Muslims, Pagans, Wiccans, Shintoists, and the occasional Pastafarian, none of whom have anything in common, each with their own independent set of beliefs that contradicts all the others. There's nothing to unite people here, it's just a vicious, ugly free-for-all where no one will ever come out on top, or even looking good.

That's why I love it.

no I would not because it would most likely be trashed by the people who say they are being trashed are tolerant (not) and trash other faiths who are tolerant even though I maybe one ....of the trashed and how do you know that other forums do not receive similar trashing from trolls as does this site getting scared just to say Yes I agree ...or no disagree ..you know no matter how strong the belief your going to get people who disagree or agree its an open forum ...if you cannot handle the good with the bad answers don't ask ...sorry a believer

If you find a good answer to this, please pass it onto me. As I have gotten tired of it as well. I honestly don't see any respect from others in this whole forum.
And as a Christian, honestly it saddens me, I may have different world views then others here do. But I try my best to respect the other people's beliefs. But for me it tends to get to be a huge put down if I do mention my views. As heck will break loose if I point out my views. Slander, and put downs are all over the place, but then they want me to respect them??
It is hard very very hard to respect others that disrespect you. This is something I am working and Lord willing I will be able to overcome. But gee-sh, come on have at least some manners folks.

Because this is one of the larger and best known forums, you are going to get more of this behavior. By the way, why would you want to ask any serious question on a forum based only on opinion?

Well nothing is stopping you from trying, but of course, you will have to consider the source of your answer. There are many people on this forum that can be trusted to give you a truthful answer. But it takes a while to get to know them. It helps to review their previous answers to understand their beliefs.
If I have a question to ask, I will usually wait until I see someone who I trust on this forum at that time.

I think if I asked a serious spiritual question on here I would get a decent number of serious responses. I know I respond seriously to all the real questions. My silly responses are to silly questions, trolls, or questions from other regulars.
