I have a somewhat pantheistic view of God; I believe that God is a manifestation of our own power and potential; we are all gods and goddesses, as are the animals and the trees, etc. I do tarot sometimes, but I don't know if anyone can really know the future. I like the whole Zen idea of living in the moment and not worrying about yesterday or tomorrow, but I'm just not really sure what religion I am. I would like some help figuring it out, and if you are a fundamentalist Christian who thinks I am going to hell, please keep it to yourself. Thanks!

P.S. I'm 16; not sure whether or not that's relevant.

Wow, it sounds like a lot of people say Pagan, so I should look into that a little bit more. And I realize I don't necessarily have to be a certain religion, but I was just wondering if my beliefs are a match to any of them. Thanks!

You have youth on your side. And this allows you to explore as many of the ideologies and philosophies that you can muster as you begin to enter adulthood.

You have mentioned Pantheism, Zen Buddhism and have also described aspects of Paganism and Wicca. These are good starting points for you since you are now familiar with these. Study and learn each of them and gradually become more knowledgeable and conversant of the other major religions and their teachings, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shintoism, Zoroastrianism, and Jainism.

In the final analysis, only YOU will be able to determine which religion suits you best. Good luck on your spiritual quest and Godspeed!

Peace be with you.

Not to be disrespectful.....

You're a polytheistic mutt.

You've sort of blended like every world religion into one pile of "I don't know."

Tarot is hocus-pocus
I suppose your view on "we're all gods" is closest to karma, or African Polytheistic practices
Zen is more of a philosophy....and a style of interior design (neither should be confused with zen buddhism)

Rather than saying you're confused. I'm going to tell you that you're "different" because that isn't a religion. I have a good friend who is a moderate catholic. However he still sees the logic behind the concepts of Zen, and the idea of respecting other life-forms like birds.

I would say you're an atheist that believes in spiritual things. Although you use the word god, I think you mean more of a spirit. Just a semantic difference.

I don't think you really need to box yourself in saying that you're one religion or another. You are you, and that's a great thing to be! You don't need to follow other people like sheep. Believe what you will!

Good luck! :-)

I'd go for belief'o'matic, the test that someone's linked above.

Let's just say I follow Theravada Buddhism, but I also believe similar to the way you do, and that's why I only ever call myself 'predominantly' Buddhist.

Good luck on the quiz

May peace go with you throughout your life

Pagan/Wiccan or Buddhist. Both peaceful, loving and in tune with the Earth and Animals. Much respect to both.

Sounds a bit Pagan, or maybe an eclectic spiritualist.

Maybe it's better to continue thinking outside the box.

There's a saying from Judaism that I really like. Goes something like this:

"Don't do onto other what you don't want done onto you. Everything else is commentary."

You might find the Belief-O-Matic quiz over at Beliefnet.com helpful:

It's fun, and it matches you up with a wide variety of religions and philosophies based on your answers, with write-ups for each one. The results can be very surprising.
