A soldier who admitted he paid someone $500 to shoot him in the leg so he could avoid returning to Iraq won't face felony charges, though his wife and another man who prosecutors say was the gunman were indicted by a grand jury.
"I was hoping for the best, but preparing myself for the worst," Army Pvt. Jonathan Aponte, 21, told The Daily News. "I went into the grand jury and told the truth, and I think they had sympathy for me."

Aponte had claimed he was robbed and shot July 9 but changed his story when police questioned him. He was set to leave on another eight-month tour the same day he was shot. He stated he did not want to go back to Iraq.
He told police that he had joked with his wife about getting shot in the leg so he wouldn't have to return to Iraq, but his wife apparently took him seriously and said she knew someone who could do the job.

Another attempt at degrading America's heroes. Just more tired rhetoric that draws idiots like airmonkey1001 (appropriate moniker I might add) and cj (using crosses that actually should be smiling idiot faces) who is misdiagnosed as a top contributor when in actuallity is a bottom feeder.

Thank goodness we still have citizens like Guessses and Amos S who, despite communistic rhetorical crap like you continue to post on the web, still go out and fight for your freedom to post that very crap. Your moniker Erudite is defined in one dictionary as characterized by great knowledge; learned or scholarly. Man, did you choose the wrong name. Change your moniker. I suggest haterofamericasheroes.

Don't bother posting a reply. I wouldn't read another lie written by you.

conflict is justifiable while you're protecting your self (subsequently - your united states of america) so the real question comes right down to - are we protecting usa - the real answer is - NO That being reported - shall we understand the quagmire for what that's now - we are there - we are fightiing - and we've human beings death there - what can we do approximately it? It doesnt count who helps whom at this factor or what the basis reason for that's - the reality that it exist and should be addressed is what counts - so how can we handle it?? the answer - deliver them homestead the place they belong - the longer we live there the extra severe it gets - the extra our human beings will die - the extra the exterior international will hate us - the extra we get entangled with the failings happening over the - only deliver them homestead and all those problems disappear Jeeper-Creeper: Congress exceeded a decision yet did no longer stick to the form - so - in result we broke our rules - Cngress, in accordance to the form, is the only group who has the authority to declare conflict on yet another countyr AND that became no longer accomplished going into Afganistan or Iraq - in spite of what decision they exceeded conflict became by no capacity declared As for everyone else stupid sufficient to have confidence the conflict is justified - all bush did became replace the "chilly conflict" with the "conflict on terror". If this "conflict on terror" became a real conflict a million. what united states of america are we at conflict with? 2. how do all of us be attentive to as quickly as we win the conflict? 3. how do all of us be attentive to while the conflict is over? you will discover how that's an open ended conflict - in case you cant you'll be able to desire to get some psychological glasses - there isn't any thank you to win - by utilising protecting a "conflict on terror" we've in actuality set ourselves as much as be the "international police" - in case you dont see the inherent negative aspects in this you adult adult males are lots worse off then i presumed.

Trust me, I dont want to go back to Iraq, but I cant really argue the point with generals. Iraq sucks, but what can we do, we signed up for it.
Most service members know that they signed up with going to combat in the future. But there are others, like the one you mentioned, that must have joined for the college money or something, and was blinded by the reason why we have a military.

Presumably on the assumption that anyone who volunteered after the war started - or, even, was imminent - probably realized that's where they'd be going, and wouldn't have volunteered if they didn't want to go.

Of course, that's going in. I'm not suprised to hear that some aren't so sanguine about going /back/ once they know what it's like there. PTSD would also seem a real possibility in the case you site.

All soldiers going to Iraq believes that it a right action. Otherwise, they can deny to be assigned there on the claim that it is a wrong war because they have a right not to obey an erroneous instruction from their superiors.

I doubt that all war supporters say that. That makes no sense, however the fact of the matter is that people join the military voluntarily. When they join they agree to perform whatever duties are asked of them, whether they agree with the policies or not or the reasons for the war.

Damn, you still on the job? Ok, I'll bite. IT'S CALLED THE ARMY. The "job" is to kill people and break things with lead & high explosive. Rather basic but true. If he did not want to do such? Don't join. America Idol can alway use contestants.
