My vet gave me Amoxicillin 500mg per capsule, but it will depend on your puppy body weight. I have a 5year old Shepherd 90 lbs, he got Kennel cough at the vets, he even had his shots & so did my two other dogs at the same time got it from the vets.. So for each dog it was a differnt mg.. Now they had to take the meds for a week. Thank god, no more Kennel cough after the med where gone :) Make sure you give all the med, don't stop them because you think the pup is better, or the pup will never get rid of it . It will just keep coming back !
P.S. Please don't let it go on long or you will end up like one of the readers that answered your question, on Iv's and all :(
This is to KKings, I'm sorry about your dog & for what I said :( I now know your dog was sick before you got it & you are doing your very best to get the dog back on his feet. The dog should of not been sold to you sick :(
Keep doing what you are doing & I hope your dog keeps getting better, GOOD LUCK & AGAIN I'M SO SORRY, your not a bad owner at all !

That depends on what is causing the kc. Some cases are viral...which don't need antibiotics. We just got back from the vet today (for the second time this week) for my dog that caught it (even though he got vaccinated against it.)
They have him on two different types: Baytril and Clindamycin. He's also on cough medication and a steroid treatment and he also received an IV. Good luck...my poor dog is miserable.
Edit: Just so everyone knows this is not something I let just go on or stopped giving my dog his medications...
He had slight symptoms on Thursday, I had him at the emergency vet this weekend, he didn't respond to the first round of antibiotics they started him on, so we were back in the vet's office today....

It would be up to your vet - most kennel coughs don't need antibiotics - it is a virus. If the dog is coughing up green mucus then it has turned into an infection.

Kennel cough is basically a cold and antibiotics won't help unless the dog develops some type of secondary infection. The best thing to do is keep the pup hydrated, comfortable, and away from other dogs.

Depends on which type of kennel cough he has. If it's viral, antibiotics won't help.
The vet will let you know.

After being seen by a vet, he will likely be put on some type of antibiotic. My puppy is currently on Clavaimox -ten days.

properly for starters, your destructive canines has been on immune suppressants a third of his existence. stop listening to a vet it is obviously lost. come across a holistic vet that could help you come across the reason at the back of your canines cough rather of attempting to repair the symptom.

After visiting your vet, please check into getting your shepherd innoculated against future occurences. The first treatment will probably be a nasal spray and the next treatment will no doubt be in the form of a shot. Also please see that your pup is put on heartworm medication.
