The general guideline is to stop fluid intake an hour or two before bed. If the child goes to bed early (8pm), then wake them to go potty when the last adult goes to bed, or around midnight to go potty. I am 23 and can't hold it through the night most of the time, I don't expect a 4 year old to do so. If he/she does wet the bed don't scold them for it. Use pads to cover the sheets so that it is not such a pain to to clean and mess. Use the same positive reinforcement system you use when potty training. Holding urine through the night is a muscle control issue, and it may take time for your child to gain it. Patience and love!
