Lorraine, if she wanted to leave, she could just walk off, we do not have her chained up or fenced in or anything.. so thats not the problem

She could be afraid of the dark, or sees night time animals, or lonely, I would bring her in or make her a dog house in the back yard, She might not being walked enough during the day, She needs to bond with someone and train her, but you are already saying she is going to go if you can't stop her and you are 8 months pregnant, what will happen when the baby comes? You might look into finding her a home that will love her, you were very kind to help her this much. I hope it works out for you but no matter what it will take along time to stop a habit. Good luck on your future baby.

Are you wanting to put the time into training this dog? If so and if you can be consistant this will work. Every time the dog barks go to the dog wrap your hand around thier nose and mouth holding thier mouth closed. Don't squeeze as to hurt the dog, just enough so that she can't pull away. When you do that say your command that you so choose: "no bark", "quiet"...whatever you so choose. Then release her, if she barks again repeat. She will catch on and if you take the time to be consistant with this for a few days it will change her barking. When she gets the idea that hand around the mouth and the command means no barking then when you give the command she will stop. If she barks after the command is given then revert back to step 1 with the hand around the mouth.

Please consider bringing the girl in at night (daytime too) Dogs are pack animals and you need to be a leader of the pack. Your home is a den site for her. If you had more time, crate training would be beneficial. Depending on what you think her breed may be it may be best to find a rescue group so they can evaluate a home that may have more time for her.
