Wash it, use a heavy conditioner for straightening (Redken makes one called stick straight, I think), pull your hair straight with a hairbrush to dry it, then flat iron it.

1 Wash hair
2 Apply heat protectant and straightening balm
(KMS Flat out, Bed Head Straight;or Straight, Sexy Hair are all really great products)
3 Blow dry straight with an extra large round brush, in sections(If I have time I skip this step to minimize damage)
4 Use a flat iron, run it from roots to ends in small sections (ceramic flat irons work best- Sally Beauty Supply)
5 Finish with a smoothing shine serum
(Biosilk, Redken..., the Straight Sexy Hair line has tons of products for perfect straight hair: their Shampoo and conditioner are great)
* I find if I use the whole line of products, I get the best results. So use the shampoo, conditioner, heat protector, straightening balm, etc of the same brand. Don't use store bought products.

Well I first wash and condition my hair so there is no product in it. Then I blow dry it. The I spray it with some stuff that is supposed to reduce the risk of damage. Then I straighten it. I make a layer at the bottom of my hair, then I put the rest up, then I straighten the layer, then make another one, and so on and so forth. I sometimes put the straight hair in a loose pony tail so it doesn't get mixed up with the curly stuff. If I forgot anything, email me. Or you can also email me if you have more questions.
Good luck, and I hope I helped!

I have real thick curly hair that used to take me 2 hours to straighten. Now i have the T3 straightener from sephora(.com), you get what you pay for. When i straighten i divide my hair into 3 pony tails, left, right, and back. Then i do one section at a time working a layers from the bottom up. It makes the whole process a lot more manageable and only takes me about 30-45 minutes

I shampoo my hair with Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner.
10 minutes
First I make sure my hair is completely dry. I avoid blow drying, usually I just towel dry, or let it air dry.
10 minutes
Then I spray my hair with Garnier Fructis hair heat protection serum.
2 minutes
Then I use a flat iron to straighten my hair.
15 minutes
If there are any frizzy flyaways, I use an ice cube to smooth them down.
