Sorry, but I honestly think that to receive any type of housing, you two would have to be married. Or at least have children together.

Nope sorry. Housing on base is for married people only. Also, as a rule the marine must be of a certain rank before he is allowed to live off base and recieve BAH. Until that point, he must live in the barraks, and will probably have a roomate. No civilians are allowed in the barraks. If you want to get an apartment for yourself nearby, thats fine, but you'll have to pay for it yourself, the military won't help. Sorry. Unless you're married, the military doesnt care about you, and even then sometimes its questionable.

My initial response is to get back in school and finish... basic spelling and grammar are essential. As the girlfriend of a Marine, you rate no tangible benefits from the Marine Corps; you must be the wife of a Marine to rate housing and subsistence. Both of you need to get a serious grip on reality if you think he's just going to drag you along to every duty station in the Corps and get paid to do it. Sounds to me like he's a PVT or PFC who doesn't know much. I would strongly recommend that he gets his head out of the clouds and gets himself squared away ASAP, otherwise he'll be in for a lot of heartache. I'm not trying to be rude, but being a Marine is very real and very serious. If he really wants to do you any justice, he'll get himself educated and get some rank behind him before he tries to have a family,

LOL no girlfriends dont get ANY benefits, neither does the military personnel for having a girlfriend. The only way you will get anything is if you marry him. Otherwise everything will be coming out of your pocket. If the military gave girlfriends housing.. there would no longer be a need for barracks because EVERY guy would get a girlfriend wether he liked her or not....Even if you have a child with him you wouldnt be allowed to live legally with him because the only people on deers would be him and the child NOT you

I am excited for you that you are dating a military man! It is an exciting life, however, it can be quite trying on a relationship. As you can plainly see by everyone's response--no, he will not get any kind of housing or special allotments because you are a couple. After you all are married, he will get those allotments. Even then, you have to get use to the idea that you are only considered a "dependant". The military tries very hard to take care of their own, and they know that the happier they are, the better--but it really only relates to the servicemember. Best of luck to you!

Well unless things have changed in the last 10 yrs since I retired out NO. Yes you could come live with him off base. Many young Marines do live of base married an not married. For what ever reason they feel that living off base they have more freedom. Living aboard in gov quarters as a Marine every Thursday night was called field day. Yea it is night but the name stuck. if the command is worth their salt on those night they should make him keep a wal locker and a rack in the barracks, many don't that is one big pain in the butt. The barracks need cleaned but only 1/2 the people are there they live off base or are in school so they don't have to clean. That is a lame thing to do but they do it anyway. I had my way of working around it but that was me and then not now.
Once a Marine is married and it matters not watch branch of serve ur in they get allowance for it. Depending on that peron rank. You could be living next door to a Sgt and they live in the same kind of house as you do. We was in HI. they built some and it was under the civil contract. Living n base houseing u have no elect to pay or water and they come around to pick ur trash just a part of the base, some are diffrent from what I have heard. Now many bases are looking at going with a civil contract.
The active duty person is given an allowance but once in this so called houseing you give it up. Someplace also give a cost of living allowance or "cola" to which is to help off set the cost of the quarters. Because many will charge a little more than what beq pays(sort of a money game). The Marine also rates comrats which is nothing more than extra money for food. Now they can spend it how ever they like along with their reg pay\, but try not to cut urself short. They have a px and pretty much evrything on base as you will find in town. It is a town inside a town. many movie theartors are free u pay for the junk food. Now what could have change also but I can to swear to it now days. With the war going on. They could be providing more things than b4. We do go abourd the base every two weeks for our food, much cheaper yet I see many young familys useing Wal-Mart super center. How in the world they make it i don't know but they do, from one pay day to the next.
They also have what is called a hostes house and that is for those memebers who are going out or just coming in and some base even have as we do around here the beach(not CA so that leaves the other coast). But they charge rent it is not like out in town and you live in like a trailer sort of thing but they are few and there is a waiting list. Most only can stay up to I think a max of 30 days and that is with command approval.
Now should you become in a motherly way you also have a base hospital to which if your not married you have to go out in town, if you are married depending on how many there is that can campus u out. A whole new ball game. And should things go the wrong way for u and u do have HIS child he is required by the MC order to support his child!!. You as the mother are intiled to a % of his pay, the USMC see this as a civli matter and he is to support his child and he is getting money for such so he will pay this amount until it is settled in a civil court. His command can also get envoled but it can get very uglyvery fast. My dear u have just opned up a big can, Ihope you get good sound advice and pls don't take any wooden nickels.

Hell NO! To the military you are noone and to the military family is a burden. The saying would be if you are not issued a wife at CIF then to them its no concern! But for real. Are you serious? Do you know how many "girlfriends" would be getting paid! Ha Ha. The answer is NO. Nope you have to be Married to get BAH and any pay from the military and i also think only a FAITHFUL married spouse should be entitles to this pay!

NO. you are entitled to NOTHING unless you are married. If he is not married, he will NOT be getting permission to live off base until he is at least an E4.
additionally, if you choose to move anyway, it will be all out of pocket the military will pay for nothing. Plus you will have to get a job etc. and if he goes OCONUS.. you would have to abide by that nation's emigration rules.

No way. Your marine boyfriend will get housing benefits when he gets into his permanent duty station AND is approved to live outside the military base he is stationed or there is NO military barracks or housing there. The housing benefits is not for being having a girlfriend.

To recevie a housing allowance or a house on the base you have to be married. He could receive a housing allowance for just himself but if the two of you were married it would increase.

You have to be married to get housing or any family benifits.
If he is an officer or a NCO that has to live off camp because of housing availability, he will get a housing allowance for himself. If he was married, he would get a bigger allowance.
