Depends on the route you take and the time of day you travel.

The options are to go via:
Ipswich/Ely which will be cheaper, but the trains are less frequent or
London which is busier, but shorter travelling time and more choice of trains - you may also find there are more travel restrictions (time-wise) via London to encourage you to avoid the rush hour.

If you want to know pricing I suggest you visit the National Rail Enquiries Website (http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/) ***BUT*** beware they are not always right and may give wrong information re times, prices and availability. The best source of info is you local station.

Single tickets seem to be in the order of £53 - £78 (one way) but this may vary as to how far in advance you book and when you travel. Return tickets vary as to when you travel and when you want to return

I hope this helps!!

Depends from where in Essex which is a large County - Loughton, Southend, Colchester, Clacton? Where you start from may determine the route and therefore the fare. Without more detail a sensible answer cannot be given, so check yourself on www.thetrainline.co.uk.

Later. From Colchester it is a 3 hour journey (Travelling via Liverpool Street and Euston) The fare for an adult saver return is £54.10.
