This might be a silly question. I have been married for a year & 4 months and have always worn my rings the same. I put on my engagement ring first becayuse I got that first then my wedding band on top. I was told the other day by my cousin that I was wearing my ring wrong! Is there a wrong or right way to wear your engagement ring and wedding band?

If I could add too that my engagement ring is substantially larger than my band so it kinda overpowers it

The *right* way to wear it is wedding ring first, then engagment ring. Your wedding ring is supposed to be the one closest to your heart. IMO there is really no *right* way, just whatever feels comfortable to you. It is your finger and your rings. I mean, who really cares anyway. Do what you are confortable with. :)

Traditionally the wedding band goes on first (closest to your heart) and then the engagement ring goes on top of that one.
I know you get the engagement ring first so it seems logical that you wear that one first. I dont know why, but that is just the way it is........but if you want to wear it the other way, I cant see a problem. You are not going t be arrested by the wedding ring police. Do what makes you happy. If you like your rings the other way round, why not? Tll your cousin to mind her own business.

I believe that the wedding band goes on first and then the engagement ring. That is how I wear mine and it's the only way I've ever seen a wedding ring worn.

It is supposed to be your wedding band first, and then your engagment ring over that. So your engagement ring is the first one you would take off if you were taking the rings off.

Regardless of the size of the rings, the wedding band goes on first. You can always have the two rings fused together, but the wedding band goes on first.

Your wedding band should be placed first on your finger, followed by your engagement ring. If you like it the other way then do so. You can do what I did and get another matching wedding band for the other side!

The clerk in the jewelry store where we bought our rings said something like this: The fourth finger on the left hand was supposed to hold the vein the went directly to the heart and by wearing your wedding ring first it was supposedly closest to your heart just as your spouse should be. I forgot to ask her where she got her information...
you might want to do a search in Wikipedia or somewhere to find the different wedding ring myths.
Personally, I dont think it matters what order your rings are in... You married your husband not the rings! Wear them however you're comfortable and in whatever order you like. Anyone says the rings are backwards or wrong just let them know that you're expressing your individuality and nonconformity while still embracing the traditional vows of marriage by having the rings in the first place...

your cousin should mind her P's & Q's, some people are just plain 'know-it-alls'. whatever makes you happy is what you should do in this instance.
traditionally the wedding ring goes on the finger first, 'closer to the heart' idea, but to each his own.
i wear mine as you do for the simple fact that my engagement ring is a tad loose and my wedding band is snug, so this way my engagement ring is in no danger of falling of my finger.
however you wear them doesn't matter as long as you wear them!

Technically, you're supposed to wear your wedding band 1st, your engagement ring second...

To me i think that you should wear it how you like it. The tradition goes that you wear your wedding band first because it will be closest to your heart. That is how i am going to wear mine.

You wear your wedding band first, then the engagement ring on overtop, to protect it.
