Will rally around and convert to believers...

Well my question is what if it's to late??? will you just accept your fate and suck it up? or beg GOD for forgiveness?

In all honesty, the Christian god sounds like a monster. I may accept existence, if it's proven, but I'll never worship.

If there was solid evidnce for god existing, there wouldn't BE atheists, if god were as much a matter of fact in the world as the desk upon which i type- no one would doubt the existance and of course presented with solid evidance i would beg god for forgiveness.... simply because i would regret not believeing in such a venerabl;e creator... however the evidance as far as i am concerned is heaped strongly against the existance of such a master and thus i will remain sceptical to say the least

I would believe if there was evidence to believe. I would not be rational to believe before there's evidence. It would be, frankly, silly to believe things just because some day there might be evidence to do so. If I chose to believe that way, abandoning rationality, what standard would I have to judge what I should or should not believe?

If I don't believe because there isn't enough evidence to do so then a just God would understand. If a god would punish me for not believing without evidence, knowing that the evidence came "too late" then the god isn't worth worshipping. Such an unfair god might punish me anyway for any reason.

So I'll stick with reason and believe when and if the evidence ever suffices.

I'm going to sound like I've fallen into "angry atheist" mode here, but just give me a chance.

I've been a pretty good person. I've messed up from time to time, but I actively try NOT to hurt anyone else. I spend alot of my time trying to help other people.

If your god is real, and he decides to send me to an eternity of fiery torture just because I couldn't believe in something that has no hard evidence and carries a moutain of contradictions, then I'll happily accept my fate. I wouldn't want to worship something like that anyway.

If I spent my life NOT worshiping your God, then it was proven he existed, I would be very happy for you. But no, I would not try and back peddle towards believing. I would stick to my guns. Because a "deathbed conversion" is just BS.

If God is real, he would have the power to see through my farce. Then I would not only burn in hell, but I would have to sit next to Gilbert Gottfried the entire time, while listening to the Bee Gees.

Why would I want to beg forgiveness of a god who didn't see fit to provide solid evidence if its existence? What kind of god is that? I brutal one, in my opinion.

Would you believe in my invisible purple unicorn grazing in the backyard without evidence, or would you demand to see proof before you believe? What if my unicorn promises to send you to a horrible place to be tortured if you don't believe? Does that make you want to believe more easily, or would that actually make it harder?

I'm an atheist, and i think that if their is a god he will offer a chance to repent and what not. I think he'd support the atheists for not blindly believing something and for asking all the questions. Thats what will get you into heaven not being a sheep.

If God were to suddenly provide positive proof of his existence, then obviously I'd be obliged to change my opinion.

It would, however, be entirely in character for the Christian deity to immediately condemn any previous doubters to eternal punishment. Well, I could hardly say I wasn't warned, can I? I'd still maintain that my position was logical, based on the evidence.

And I still wouldn't feel inclined to worship such a mean-spirited deity.

I didn't say that. I said that when there is solid evidence for a god, then I will believe in that god. What would I have to convert to? Unknown to either of us. Is the hypothetical god aware of our existence? Does it care if we are aware of its existence? Does it have anything it asks of us, or anything to offer us? If it becomes aware that we have infected one of its planets, would it simply destroy us and all life here, and wash off the planet with antiseptic soap while saying "EWWW GROSSSS!"?

Knowing whether or not a god exists tells us nothing about the nature of that god.

That's wishful thinking. God does not exist so the evidence you speak of will never come and thus I don't worry about that nonsense!!

Let's be fair here, C&C -- I said that IF you prove he exists AND you prove that faith in the sacrifice of Jesus guarantees eternal life in heaven, then we'd convert in droves.

You kinda need them both, because Joe Hovah -- particularly as shown in the Old Testament -- is a righteous pr!ck.

So how about it? Care to produce somebody who is currently enjoying eternal life in heaven, so we can interview him to find out if he got there because he believed in Jesus?

We'll be waiting....
