Bold and bright colors look great in small spaces and can really lighten a room and give it a different mood. My room is pretty big and a calm, light blue. For a small bedroom you can go either way, a light color might give it a more open and airy feeling. like pastel colors such as light pink, lavender, light blue, pale yellow, or even a very light shade of green. Or you could go for a bolder look using darker shades to brighten it up. Also keep in mind what kinds of things you will be decorating your room with. (bedspread, curtains, posters, throw pillows, rugs, etc) and try to coordinate and keep those things in mind while choosing your paint. There are tons of websites where you can get ideas such as this one...

you can also go to your local hardware store and either look at colors or get small samples for 3 dollars that you can try out in your room to see if you like the color. Hope this helps!
Happy painting!

I think lighter colors are the ones that make the rooms feel larger and possibly more cheerful. As for a room for a teenage girl, consider this: What does a teenage girl do with her bedroom walls? She puts knick knacks and pictures and things all over it. Durable paint. The color is not so important when the scheme is personalized.
