Any tips for doing a backflip? How can you stop being scared of falling when doing such things as a backflip etc?

Have a friend spot you. Start off on a trampoline or something so that when you do mess up, and you will, you don't hurt yourself.

Your friend can grab your waist and help spin you around. Keep practicing it until you can get around without their help. Then practice the landing of the flip and you've got it!

I learned the basics doing them off the side of the pool. Throw your head back, use the swing of your arms, bring your knees up to your chest, feel the momentum and use it. Unless you fight it, your body will follow. Make SURE you jump far enough out from the side of the pool so you don’t crack your head! Have someone spot you.

When I got on land I found it easier to start from a crouched position and explode from there into an awkward sideways slanted back flip. I perfected it from there.
