Yes, we have hardwood floors throughout the house and want to keep their feet protected. Who cares that it is 100 degrees outside, a good pair of shoes should keep their feet cool even in the summer.

Nope. My daughter goes barefoot all day. Inside and out. Unless of course we go to the park or something, then she wears sandals, but just around the house and yard, she doesn't need them. In the fall and winter time, however, she goes barefoot in the house but wears shoes and socks outside. I think it varies from place to place - in this part of the country, people go barefoot all of the time. I never wear shoes unless I'm going on a walk or to the store or somewhere. As far as keeping feet protected, when a child goes barefoot, the bottoms of their feet become tough - much like the sole of a shoe - and walking on rocks even doesn't bother them (or me, I do the same). The point is that whether a child is wearing shoes or not, if they step on a nail, it's going to go through to their foot either way (most kids shoes have thin foam type soles with a thin rubber layer on the bottom). Either way, it doesn't really matter in the summer time.

My daughter wears flip flops outside and goes barefoot inside, I can't stand having her barefoot all the time but she removes anything from her feet as soon as possible... I do make her wear shoes in public but about the only shoes she is willing to wear are Robeez because they are so much like being barefoot.
BTW: My daughter is 2 1/2

I dont like wearing shoes in the house. If my feet are cold i wear socks. I do wear flip flops in the house and so does my husband. My oldest will tell me if she wants to wear socks or not. if she wants her shoes on or not. I dont tell her what she needs to wear. She tells me if she is cold or not. She can wear whatever she wants. My youngest is 1 year and 3 months and she never wears socks or shoes in the house or out to the market. if we are going out to dinner then she will have some nice socks and a cute outfit on.
she has tiny feet so no tenis shoes would fit her. when kids start to walk its better barefoot. Carpet or wood floores i like walking barefoot and so do my kids..

My kids were always barefoot when they were little!! They hated wearing shoes. I only made them if we were in a place where I felt their feet should be protected.

None of us wear shoes unless we go outside the house. My son is 4, so of course he wears shoes in public now, but when he was little he didn't. In fact, he never owned a pair of shoes until he started walking at 11 months. I don't know what you are protecting their feet from while inside your house?

My son is barefoot 90% of the time unless we are outside. If we go to the store he's barefoot and sitting inthe cart. Only when he's playing outside does he wear shoes. I should mention he's only 1 year old now.

My kids are almost always barefoot unless we are going to the store or outside. I make them wear shoes if we are going to be in public, I don't want them to look like little rag muffins :)!

My 3 1/2 yr. old wears shoes outside, but my 1 yr. old usually goes barefoot since he's learning to walk on his own right now.

No, though I prefer to wear at least flip flops - I have very tender feet :)
Where I live in Europe, many parents make their children wear house shoes or closed slippers even in summer.
I don't make them wear shoes unless they're going outside and they don't wear socks unless it's cold.

It would depend where we are - indoors is fine (at my home anyway) and I like my grandsons' feet to have a chance to breathe. In the park where there may be glass these days (teenage drinkers) or the beach no - although sandals without socks is fine.
Mind you if you are a "soccermom" I see your concern - my own boys were mad on football (soccer) too so they wanted to look after their own feet and keep them in tip-top condition!
