He's been wormed a few weeks ago and when this started I wormed again. Had a few worms. But the stool is still runny, mucous, and a little blood (sorry to be graphic but i thought detailed would be best) No money for vet. He's due for his first shot this week. Not sure if I should even give it since he's feeling so bad. Any help would surely be appreciated. Oh and there was a change in food but the blood has me nervous.

puppy is not inactive. Still eating and drinking normal. As far as the money issue goes I had this puppy dropped on my property. I couldn't just leave it. There is no group here that will help unfortunately. I've been trying to give this puppy to a good home since it arrived. I can't stand to see it put down. But I don't want it unhealthy either.

My dog had bloody diarrhea with mucous in it when she was a puppy, she ended up having an infection in her colon and just needed some antibiotics...it wasn't that expensive, only about $15. If you really don't have any money than dry giving the dog some cooked white rice and a couple tablespoons of pepto...that works as a temporary fix until you have the money to cure the real problem. She also got diarrhea when I changed her food which also had blood in it so this could be the problem as well...it lasted for about a week and was a pain to clean up and irritating, but it did get better...try the rice and give him a few days.

If it were just diarrhea, since you have recently changed his food I would normally recommend canned pumpkin but the blood is definitely something you need to have a vet check out. Contact him and see if you can work something out so your boy can get treatment should it be required.

I have two Goldens and each have had blood in their stool. Fortunately it was a minor infection and was cleared up quickly. You don't want to take a chance. Most vets are understanding and will work out a payment plan if it is needed.

For your dogs sake get him checked out. Contact your local shelter, rescue or SPCA and see if they know of a vet who will see you and take payments or possibly barter for his/her service.

If there is blood in his stool he needs to see a vet ASAP. I know you said you don't have the money but is there anyway you can call your local SPCA or humane society and see if they can refer you to a low cost clinic? Diarrhea for 2 days has also probably made him really dehydrated. With Diarrhea you should be feeding him plain boiled rice with plain boiled or grilled chicken breast meat and plenty of water. How is his behavior? Is he being inactive?

Pitties are VERY susceptible to Parvo - a symptom of which is bloody diarrhea. It's often fatal.

If you don't have $$ for vet, see if your local humane society or someone can help you cover costs. see if the vet will take payments.

Otherwise you could easily lose your puppy.

Word to the wise - don't get a pet if you can't afford vet bills.

VET!!! YOU chose to take on a pet. YOU NEED TO FIND THE MONEY FOR THE VET. I am sorry but choosing to have a dog means choosing to put the dog's needs before your wants. You might need to eat Raman Noodles for a month and cancell your internet but you can find the money somewhere I am sure.

The best treatment at this time would be a vet.
