Shawshank Redemption is a great movie, it's also one of my favorites. My all time personal favorite movie is probably Unforgiven. I love Clint Eastwood as both an actor and a director.

For some reason my first thought is invariably "Harry and Tonto." It's not all that good a film -- it's really dated, poor production values, crappy editing.... but Art Carney is great, and it's all about a simple personal odyssey (several of them, actually), and it shows that you're never too old to change and find out what you really want in life. And Tonto is a perfectly fine cat, too. No razzle-dazzle, just Cat Nature. Which I also like a lot. So there ya go.

And hey, while I'm at it: Little BIg Man. Same premise, different century, bigger canvas, and Dustin Hoffman doing the honors.

*****

Added note: Ohmigod, I'm reading some intriguing titles from people who have interesting taste.... I've already put a few on hold at the library.... thanks, folks!

Too many to list, but the LOTR Trilogy, Frailty, 21 Grams, 11:14 and A Simple Plan immediately come to mind. I tend to like Indy films, so if you've never heard of some of these, that's why.

All time....

Pulp Fiction or The Red Violin.

Red Queen: Frailty was a crazy movie. I own it and still have only seen it once. There was just something about it that creeped me out.

LOTR Trilogy is right up there.

Oh, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Now matter how may times I watch that movie, I laugh my butt off.

Like many film buffs my favourite film is a bit obscure. Lovely little 80's fantasy film called "Krull" not a work of cinematic genius but has a special place in my heart.

screw you, thumbs down fairy! :)
